I buy some litter when it goes on sale Black Friday.  I don't use it but keep a few buckets on hand for when I am low or out.  Helps during winter as there are sometimes it is not worth the drive with the snow or rain so it buys me a few days.  I am lucky as my cats are not fussy at all.

When I got my first kitty I bought some very cheap burlap mice...she loved them to DEATH. Can't find them anymore so I bought a little more expensive flashinf blue light eye mouse. she HATED it. She is a cheap toy cat. Recently got another cat...she is playing with ANYTHING the existing cat discarded. This new cat LOVES to run and catch toy balls. Existing cat isn't that fond of that behavior. So right now I can recylce toys between the two.

A water bottle thing with a spigot that has like the metal ball inside , like for small animals. I got it for the Sturdi show shelter that has a hole w/ grommet and a pocket for one of those things. I thought it would be so clever if they decided they liked it, because they sometimes are playing in there at a show and knock over their water dish. But they show no inclination to use it plus the dang thing drips so I would have to put a water dish in anyway ! Now I want to get one of the water dishes with the tiny opening

They LOVE their Smart Cat Ultimate Scratching Post like Frappe's cat doesn't like though. And they pretty much love any toy... they love them to death , so to speak.

Since you mention it, I've sprung-cleaned the cat cupboard (even though it's Autumn here, but Anne inspired me
) and I found:
  • 8 various packets of cat treats that students have brought and which they just won't touch
  • 3 plastic balls with bells inside which they don't like as they like their balls to be squishy
  • a very large dangly lizard which scares the pants off Sundar (not that he wears pants....
    )
  • and a 'grow it yourself' catnip set that I bought before I realised that they don't give a monkies about the stuff!
And earlier this year I donated a new and expensive cat scratch set-up that, no matter what I did to it, they wouldn't go near.

A couple Christmas stocking plastic packs that were given to me. Filled with toys that she has no interest in.

Freeze dried tuna, also given to me. I don't allow fish food.

Health Meter kitty litter. Although this is probably useful, I figured it was probably just a pH alert system. I have access to the cat's urine, so I just use pH acidity testing strips. The litter is supposed to give false positive readings when it gets down to the end, so I figured why do I need two measurement systems? If one is off, it'll just cause trouble trying to figure out which is correct. And worry.

I used to buy that stuff also but quickly gave it up because they never used them. I find my 2 cats would rather play with a piece of tinfoil balled up or any box that's around, even if the box is absurdly small they try to get into it. Of course they also dig out the odd beer cap so I can play fetch with my 2!

Balls with fabric covering....they play forever with plastic balls that make a noise but rarely touch fabric covered ones.

They never bother with the puzzle box that has peek-a-boo holes for them to push the toys around that are inside it....boring !
