    Miscalculated for years

As @Jabzilla said the spreadsheet will show you how much phosphorus you have in your recipe (in mg) and it’ll show you the total weight of the recipe and the dry matter weight so you can calculate the % of phosphorus based on those numbers.

    Miscalculated for years

I also recently purchased this spreadsheet and completed the free course, they're awesome resources for anyone making their own pet food at home. They also have a FB group that has a lot of useful information!

Dr Becker’s Real Food for healthy Dogs and Cats book

That's a great system you have going! Thank you for sharing :) Regarding pork and which vitamin mix to use - it sounds like you're planning to use pork instead of turkey meat that she suggests for the rotation? If that's the case then my guess would be to go with the vitamin mix A if you're...

Dr Becker’s Real Food for healthy Dogs and Cats book

Sounds like you’ve found what works for your cat! Thanks for sharing! One of my cats also needs some pumpkin in her food occasionally to help things move along I will need to do a very slow transition for mine, hopefully they’ll like the new food and do well on it.

Dr Becker’s Real Food for healthy Dogs and Cats book

That’s great to hear your cat likes the food! What was he eating before the switch? The book recipes already include a veggie mix, did you have to add some pumpkin in addition to the mix to help with digestion? I hope the blood tests all comes back good, please keep us updated! The biggest...

Hi, I was wondering if anyone here used Dr Becker’s recipe book to prepare food for their cats and how successful it was? Thanks!

    Raw and Cooked food

So after few weeks of transitioning my two kitties to raw food, it seems like one if them doesn't tolerate raw too well. He doesn't eat it well (and he's still in the transition stage where I am mixing some raw with his canned food) and often he would throw up after eating. He eats canned food...

    Choosing chicken meat

Thank you, getting a small freezer is a great idea, and maybe my cats will even let me use it for my food sometimes  It will certainly pay for itself in the long run and will allow me to make larger batches of food so I don't have to cook every week. I'm glad to hear good things about Raw...

    Choosing chicken meat

Yes the butcher shop was pretty good! They do sell chicken thighs from free range organic chickens. They do not sell turkey legs, and they only sell whole turkeys for Thanksgiving. But they had interesting things like whole frozen rabbits, pheasants, and quail. My cats aren’t ready for that yet...

    Choosing chicken meat

We do have one butcher shop, I’m going to check it our tomorrow. Not sure about farms though, but I think we have a farmers market on Saturdays. And I’ve heard that raw feeding Miami is a good source too. Once I know that my cats are happy to eat the food I make for them, I can order meat...

    Choosing chicken meat

Not much, unfortunately. I’ll see if maybe I can do a small order form Hare Today. Since it was l my first time making food for my cats, I just wanted to see if they’ll even like it and if they would eat it. They did seem to like it so that’s encouraging!

    Choosing chicken meat

Yes I’m in Tennessee. I’m using Alnutrin with calcium, just making one pound of this food today to see how they like it.

    Choosing chicken meat

I went to Publix, and I was looking for organic and free range boneless skinless thighs… might be a bit over top? Lol there was only one choice that was organic, free range, and under 100 mg sodium, and it was pricey! It’s my first time making food for them so I bought that chicken but I need to...

    Choosing chicken meat

Hi, I’ve read that when buying chicken meat for cat food, I need to check the sodium content, it should be no more than 100mg per serving. Would 105 be acceptable or is that too much? It’s difficult to find chicken with sodium numbers under 100mg, and those are twice the price.
