Hes definitely getting to that curious stage, good luck on that part too lol He is going to be wanting to get into EVERYTHING lol Make sure you get a weight and you and the vet can determine his needs for his intake and what weight goal you need to aim for. Stay persistent and confident :)
At 4 weeks and an orphan they usually can start weaning but still need formula supplement to make up for the rest. Are you using a luke warm formula? You don't want to heat it too much but kittens don't seem to take to cold formula. Since he can start to wean, try makng a gruel with formula...
Welcome to the family! :wave3: There are lots of helpful people here who have dealt with all sorts of situations both easy and difficult so you came to the right place. It's an unspoken rule you have to post pics ;) lol We can't get enough :hyper:
Kittens have a downy sort of fur they grow out of over time. Ive had tuxedo cats that have the brownish sheen in the light though they look solid black and white. I think we need pics though *wink* ;)
Since they are with mama, alot of the pressure is off you other than monitoring and helping along progress. Like Sarthur2 mentioned, add a bit of water to the wet food to ease them into solids. I found my little orphan liked it luke warm as well. Since mama is there, let them observe her use...
From the sounds of it, you did the right thing, because the quality of life probably would have gone right down the tube IF he even bounced back from it. Guilt is totally normal, completely. About signs.....well cats are pretty good at hiding any sort of pain or illness (its a defence...
Yep lol They start expanding 'their' territory fast. Also being that shes close to 4 weeks, she will probably be ready for litter training soon (if she isnt already). Mine started going around 4 weeks in a secret spot, and I thought she was constipated cause when I did her bathroom time...
Helping a cat move on is the hardest thing, and if shes not in pain and it isn't dragging out like others have mentioned keep doing what your doing. Make the judgement call for a vet if you feel its not comfortable for her, you know your cat better than anyone. Either way it sounds as though...
In regards to the moisture in wet food, I would say only that really applies to kittens (IMO) when you are getting them on solids and water instead of just formula/mamas milk. Cats are desert creatures and use most of the water they intake (which is why their pee is concentrated ammonia), so...
Yeah once mama has cleaned up and had some rest and fed the little ones get her area comfortable dry and warm. She looks very content! Thanks for the pictures!
