    I suggest covers with screws. That would be your best method of security if you ask me. Glad everythings safe though.

    I've experienced this several times with new cats. Give it one or two more days. Then simply give them some boundaries because the hissing cat knows the other cat is present but wont get used to new member until they've gotten to spend more time together.     I just brought my kitten home, he's so scared!

    As mentioned above its perfectly normal for him to be so scared. Some cats react better then others while some just want to be invisible. Give him 2 or 3 days and he'll start warming up. Sit by the carrier and he might venture out to smell you.

    Generally this behavior is all because of a cats mood. If there happy and healthy they want to play so even a spec of dust can get them darting the marathon.

    Most times it is a case of true affection sometimes its about the smell. If you have a certain smell say from a perfume/lotion some cats find it curious and like to suckle.

    Wow thats very interesting I've worked at a vet clinic for 8 years and I have never actually noticed that. I havent really paid that much attention to the cats noses either.
