When we adopted Nova at 5 months old she was such a lap cat, so much that I had to lock her out of my room while I was working (I work from home) because she wouldn't stop climbing into my lap and demanding attention.
Now she's coming on to a year old and I wonder if me locking her out has...
That's the rub - they do! I don't play with her at all during the weekdays, only on weekends. My kid plays with her every day, and my husband joins in every so often. They both play with her much more than I do. Kid loves giving her treats and sneaky table scraps, and my husband feeds her half...
Nova plays that favouritism game, hard.
Even though all of us love her, pet her, and my husband feeds her and plays with her the most, she only loves me for some reason. I work from home, but I'm still busy so I don't really spend that much more time with her comparatively. When she's in my...
If she's not injured in any way after he does this, it's probably just rough playing or asserting dominance. If he wanted to kill her, he could quite easily. That said, definitely neuter him ASAP because "old enough to breed" for some cats can be as young as 5-6 months old, and being an intact...
I'm sorry that happened to you :(
Maybe he came back that time wanting to come home, but your husband suddenly appearing at the door frightened him. Cats are naturally skittish and your poor boy is suddenly in a new, unfamiliar environment, having to compete for food with other cats/fauna...
Buy the heaviest ceramic dog bowl you can find at the pet shop, or one of these with rubber bottoms:
Cats don't drink that much so I don't think they need self-refilling water bowls. I have a small ceramic water bowl for my cat and I never find it empty (I wash and refill it every 2 days).
Beef and tuna aren't something cats would eat in the wild either, but they're very common cat food ingredients! Most all edible meat proteins can be digested the same way, pork is absolutely fine for cats to eat.
Also, maybe she doesn't do kitty communication well? I have heard of tail-less and ear-less cats being attacked and bullied by other cats because they couldn't use those body parts to perform key feline body language signifiers of being friendly/non-threatening. Other cats would then think they...
Oh no, I was so angry reading that the waiters sprayed her with cleaning chemicals! That would have burned and hurt her skin. You're a good person getting her out of there. She has been treated cruelly by humans so I'm not surprised that she's very shy and scared now.
Don't be pushy, don't find...
A month ago we adopted Nova, a standard-issue black DSH. She's approaching 7 months old and is such a joy. We only planned on one cat but my husband, kid and I find ourselves falling over each other to hog her! She's chosen me as her favourite person and one of the other two are always plucking...
I got Nova a month ago and she's been pretty fuss-free to feed. I put her on an all-wet diet thanks to this forum's info, and she normally eats 8oz of wet food daily, split into two meals. I rotate many brands and flavours, and she'll usually eat 1/3 of what's freshly put out and then wander off...
To answer your original question, yes you can feed a kitten some adult food, you just have to give more of it than you would feed an adult because adult food is not as nutrient-dense as kitten food.
Meat by products are not necessarily bad. Some by products include gizzards, organs and bone...
If you're certain she needs animal companionship, I'd consider adopting a submissive fixed adult male cat through a trial period to determine if they get along. Everyone wants a cute kitten or puppy, but there are enough "my cat hates my new kitten" stories out there showing that kittens aren't...
