Has anyone else noticed their kitties acting different during quarantine?

Yes definitely. With more people around they are starting to get sick of all the attention...

    Lost cat in rural/farm area

Thank you everyone for following along and welcoming her home! Shes doing great and is having a nap in a sunbeam as we speak. With how needy/loving she is I'm surprised she did so well outside :catlove:

    Lost cat in rural/farm area

I'm happy to report that I have a very easily trapped cat! I put the trap out and about 2 minutes later I hear a crash and shes inside. :lovecat2: Massive relief. Jellybean is home!! I've got her in a room away from our other cat and away from the front door until she gets cleaned up and has...

    Lost cat in rural/farm area

Thanks Furballsmom. I saw her again at 5pm and tried sitting and reading/talking and making minimal eye contact for about 2 hours. She did move from under the outbuilding to the ledge (about 5 inches closer to me) but that's as far as I got before the sun set. By the end she had gone back under...

    Lost cat in rural/farm area

Thanks Willowy! I did try speaking and walking slowly towards her this morning. I took about 30 mins to move 10 feet and when I got within 15 feet or so she ran off. She made eye contact the whole time. Maybe I'm just being impatient but it doesn't seem like she recognizes my voice. I work from...

    Lost cat in rural/farm area

I'm not sure, we don't really have a plan. I checked on her food and she has eaten about 1/3 of a can of wet food and maybe 1/4 cup of dry. I'm not sure if that's all shes eaten since she left but that should keep her going for a few days at least. When I checked on her I saw her scamper out...

    Lost cat in rural/farm area

New sighting! This morning I saw her in the window of the outbuilding where I feed the strays while walking over to fill the food. I filled it and then left her alone for a bit and when I went back 30 mins later to bring some wet food she had already eaten some of the food. Back to the house...

    Lost cat in rural/farm area

Nothing yet 😕 Feeding them away from the porch helped a little but one of the strays is still hanging out on the porch all night and sleeping in the boxes I have set out. I haven't seen her again but if she is still under the house she should be safe... I hope she has been coming out for some...

    Lost cat in rural/farm area

Thank you Furballsmom that's the plan for now. There is a good spot maybe 20 ft away from the porch. I can try that tonight and move further if needed. I also feed them in one of the outbuildings and I'll make sure there's more than usual there too. I am a bit worried that my kitty will leave...

    Lost cat in rural/farm area

No sighting last night (night 4). I managed to get into the place I thought she was hiding and did a reasonably good search and didn't see her. The strays were right by the door all night long which may be scaring her off. They also were interested in checking out the inside of the house. I...

    Lost cat in rural/farm area

Thank you Furballsmom. I've altered the setup a bit now... the door isn't quite as wide open. The litter box and sleeping box are inside. I've angled all the prime sleeping spots so I can try to corner her if needed. I really really really hope I just wake up to a little orange kitty snuggled up...

    Lost cat in rural/farm area

I think I'm going to bring the box inside... It seemed to work last night but tonight I'm hoping the incentive to come inside is higher and that will work instead. I would like a proper sleep but I don't think that will happen until I know she's safe. I can sleep for a month once she's home.

    Lost cat in rural/farm area

I wish there was a right or wrong answer 😫 I think I will go with plan b to sleep in the other room so I can see what's going on outside. Maybe point her box back towards that window too. I guess I should put the other cat in the spare bedroom so she has the whole house to explore if she does...

    Lost cat in rural/farm area

Should I move her box to just inside the doorway? The less timid stray has already come inside, had a look at me and left. I wonder if I'm going to end up with all the strays inside..

    Lost cat in rural/farm area

I'm starting to think me sleeping in the room she enters into isn't going to be a good idea. Best case scenario she is excited to see me but I think it's more likely she will get spooked. Any thoughts? Should I just go to bed and hope that she comes in and stays in on her own?
