Just wanted to give you all an update. Bella is doing much, much better. She's back on her food, and seems to be healing quite nicely. I'm so relieved everything turned out okay, though she had me horribly scared for awhile.
Yeah, they gave us i/d for her meals for the next week.
I plan on only giving her a couple small spoonfuls at a time, then gradually increasing that amount over the next day. Is this too much?
Also, when can I reintroduce the Nutro she's used to eating? I don't want to rush it.
Man, I hope so. I feel so terrible as it is. First all that trauma, then yucky medicine, now no food. (Her favorite thing in the world!)
She's going to hate me after all is said and done. I know it's best for her, though. Doesn't mean I have to like it.
Well, she had major surgery on her stomach and intestines. I called the vet and they said they gave her IV fluids with nutrients in it during her surgery and while on follow-up at my regular vet.
Bella is driving me nuts now, though. Her stomach is actually growling, which I've never heard in...
Our vet has said no food for 48 hours following Bella's surgery. It's been 24 hours since the surgery, and about 48 hours since she's had food. (Since she vomited it up before I took her to the vet last night.)
Is going another 24 hours going to be detrimental to her healing? She is acting...
Sending good vibes for your kitties, especially Roo! I only say this because I have a cat at my mother's house who is in the exact same position - even the same age!
Good luck to all of you.
Sorry I didn't say it before, but THANK YOU all for your well wishes. Bella sends her thanks! I'll post a picture of her when she comes home. You'll get to see her cute little (actually, it's not so little anymore) shaved belly.
We thought we had. We don't EVER let her play with hair bands or thin pieces of string, etc. She'd hid them in her toy basket, apparently. My husband and I have gone through her basket and our home and thrown out anything that could even remotely be bad for her.
We'll also be watching her as...
Update on Bella:
She came through the surgery fine. They found FIVE hair elastics in her, though. Also, some sort of unidentifiable metal object and some straw from one of her toys. Most of the objects were in her stomach, which means she must have eaten them within the past couple of days...
I posted here in the past under the name Pocketsheep. Don't know what happened to that account, but I'm back.
Anyway, Bella is having exploratory surgery. I came home yesterday to find she'd eaten, and vomited, a small piece of decorative ribbon. She seemed back to normal; eating, playing...
