I am SO glad your boy is doing better! I have no experience with kitty chemo meds, but I can vouch for mirtazapine (Mirataz) and find it to be very effective. I give 3.75 mg every 72 hours (pill form). I can also vouch for ondansetron should you need it. I currently have two cats on to help...
I am sorry to hear this news, but encouraged by these responses, especially Margot Lane's....kitties can indeed persevere during and after chemo. He also has youth on his side which will help. We are here for both of you, every step of the way!
Oh no, I am sorry....what pill did he get? Was it the pred? Is he still getting transdermal gaba? He really sounded like he had a great day with grooming himself and making pudding instead of soup. This may be a temporary setback. I don't think one pill pocket would make him regress, but...
It is easy to grow despondent. But you are doing a GREAT job. I also do what BellaBlue did - I literally pop it their mouth. The key is to only use enough pill pocket to make a paste - of course, I don't know how big the pills are that you have to give. Is his swallowing fairly strong or...
I think this is the best news we have heard in days! :yess:
Yes, I think your baby will improve and eventually have more energy. He is no doubt still weak and exhausted - the diarrhea alone would have zapped his energy, even without all the other stuff.
Thank you for taking such very good...
I am very glad to hear no polyps or blood! I know you must be exhausted and I just want to say you are the best cat dad. I don't know what will happen, but I know you are giving him the best care on the planet. Who on Earth could have foreseen such complications with a common and routine...
I like Silent Meowlooks's idea. If that does not work, then ask them if option #1 can be done. I do not like option #2 at all (unless the sitter is also a licensed vet tech).
Affordable is very subjective. I have had good results with Purina Gentle Care. They are older now and have kidney issues so they are no longer on it, but I do recommend it. It is very affordable and can be found in the grocery store, most likely. Unfortunately, I don't think they make a...
I think grain free is overrated. It usually just means grains have been substituted with pea starch, soy, etc. It does not necessarily mean higher protein or better quality (although it can).
I have used Friskies pate off and on for years with both my ferals and indoor cats. "Affordable"...
I think the difference is taste. Both contain similar ingredients including DL-methionine which is good for urinary acidification (which prevents crystals). I believe Royal Canin has more salt to make kitty thirsty. My boy prefers R/C, but everyone is different.
It is not so simple as "just...
