I am originally from UK, but moved to USA as a toddler so have lost my accent. Got my USA citizenship in2021 and am proud to be a USA citizen. After loosing two dogs last year, one at 14 to dementia/old age, and the other at only a year old due to a combination of abuse from past owners, and a neurological issue that was causing him to attack us and have unpredictable aggression towards us, we decided to adopt cats. It’s been over 10 years since we have had kitties, a lot has changed with cat stuff in a decade so am happy to have found a cat community to talk cat with!

Our kitties are Cilantro and Rosemary. They were born to an outdoor cat that lived in an herb garden. The owners of the herb garden called for a rescue group to help when they realized there were kittens and saw danger from raccoons and coyotes on their nature camera. Cilantro is a black cat, a sweet boy kitty, and Rosemary is his sister. She is grey and looks a bit like a Russian blue. She is a tiny kitty. She was the only female in the litter, and the runt. When we adopted our sweet little herb kitties they were being fostered by a lovely women and were socialized so very well. They are the sweetest most lovely kitties. Very cuddly, lovey, affectionate, silly, goofy, playful little kitties. We are so in love with them and look forward to giving them the best life possible! We are now a full on cat home! They are indoor only, so right away we got them a cat wheel that they love it. Took to it right away with only one day of showing them how to run on it. We put up cat shelves spanning the whole length of our long hallway with a sisal climbing post and they are always playing on the shelves and up and down the sisal post. We put a floor to ceiling cat tree with a couple of cozy beds and scratching areas in our living room. We use cat tunnels for prey simulation play/hide and seek, and put the wands away when done playing for safety and so they don’t get tired of the toys and stop playing with them. Rosemary loves fetch with those plastic spring toys and Cilantro flops over on his back wanting belly rubs. They are adorable.

What we feed them is very important to me. In the past I had a sick cat that had crystals and renal failure, he was only 1.5 years old and lived to be about 6 after that. He was a bengal cat with poor genetics and improper breeding had been done. I also think food may have played a part in it even though my vet at the time was sure it was genetic. I am pretty shocked about pet food! What’s in it, how hard it is to find a good cat good with out a load of crap in it, and the supposed good ones have untested ingredients that maybe making cats and dogs I’ll…what is going on here? Do the pet food makers not have pets of their own? Why is there so much dishonesty and deception going on with what we feed our pets? Both dog and cat food seems to be just as corrupt as big pharma! I managed to narrow my cat food choices down to wysong epigen 90, and dr elsy’s clean protein kibble, and tiki cat rabbit and chicken liver wet food. They are still kittens, and eating kitten food for now. I giving them purina pro plan kitten food, and I give them a variety of wet foods that I rotate flavors for variety, They are currently 7 months old, so will be on kitten food a bit longer. I get to spend lots of time with these kitties cuz I work from home, I feel lucky to have this option.
