The only way I can get my cat to eat egg yolks is to mix it thoroughly with the sardine, and to make sure it's all heaped up (not spread over the plate). She really seems to like it like this, whereas I had tried quite a few different methods of getting egg into her before with no success.
You can also simply wash, dry and reuse the bags. I do that all the time, it doesn't take much time unless you were to let them build up, and it cuts down on a lot of waste and plastic going to the landfill.
Anything that needs to be thrown out just goes in a bag in the freezer and then in the...
I'm not really sure about the other questions, but lots of people here mix different meats. I do all the time. It's perfectly ok to try mixing chicken and beef to see if he can handle beef in smaller portions. It's a good way to introduce new types of meat.
It seems a lot of cats have problems...
Of course a lion also grew up doing that, and would I imagine have a better tolerance than a well looked after house cat.
Whether it would be a problem or not, I have no idea. I only started feeding my cat (14 years) raw a bit over 6 months ago, but had been giving her an occasional chicken...
I've read that chicken necks are about 36% bone, which is pretty much in line with the numbers you posted (35%), though I'm surprised it weighed 23g total, they must be much smaller than what I've found (which my cat would probably like, the ones I get vary a lot from about 50-100g).
Wings...
Sorry, yes it was 1/32 that weighed 0.14g. It's possible the 1.98 for half a teaspoon could have been slightly more (though certainly not 3g), since I didn't have much eggshell left and was scraping the bottom of the container to fill up the half teaspoon.
This got me curious. I have some scales with weigh to a hundredth of a gram, and the eggshell powder I have (which looks like a very fine powder to me) weighs in at 0.14 gram. Half a teaspoon weighed 1.98 grams, and 1/64 weighed 0.06.
Which don't seem to quite add up, though I imagine there...
I feed my cat her raw on a small plate, edges curve up a little (maybe half or 3/4 of an inch), but not much like a bowl. She eats most things over the plate, though sometimes drags it out, especially larger things like chicken necks. But I also put the plate on a bit of a plastic table cloth...
I've never fed lizards, but my cat used to bring them in all the time, and eat them if I didn't rescue it (which I always did if I was around, they would just "mysteriously" get away. I always tried my best not to let her see me take them away, I didn't want her to start taking them somewhere...
My cat sometimes does things something like that. There's no one else she can go and stay with, but usually she spends most of her time in my bedroom/office (same room), and pretty much always sleeps on my legs at night. But last couple of months she has decided she likes the spare bedroom, and...
I went away a few weeks ago, and I had a pet sitter come by once a day feeding 3 meals of raw in an automatic feeder with an ice-pack. So they came around each evening and put one meal down on a plate for the evening meal, one in one side of the feeder for the night meal, and the meal for the...
I also hate wasting things, so I've just been cooking and then adding the whites to my smoothies. Though it's only one egg white a week.
And wow that is really cheap. Cheapest eggs here would be around $4.50 for 12. Though I generally buy organic free range, which is more.
One other option for portioning is silicon muffin trays. More expensive than tin trays, but no need to oil them, and they should last a long time.
As for oiling the tin trays with krill/fish oil, I would think most of the oil would remain on the tray, so would be mostly wasted. Especially...
I transitioned about 5 months ago, and thought my cat could lose some weight, and I was sure she had. She looked slimmer. Then she got weighed at the vet and had actually gained a bit (5.8kg to 6kg).
I assume it must just be muscle. The vet thought she was fine and didn't need to lose any.
I've...
I always just place mine in a bag in the freezer, then put it out the night before bin collection.
Meat and bones are pretty much the only food that ever goes in the garbage, everything else get worm composted. It is possible to compost meat, but you would need a decent sized system and be...
