    ragdoll overgrooming

Thank you! I will definitely start switching Maggie over. Like I say her appetite is good - her general attitude is good too, except for the licking. (She greeted me today when I came home from work, that made me happy :) I'm glad I asked for help.

    ragdoll overgrooming

Wow, that's a bunch of great ideas right there! As to her food, she is getting a mix of Wysong uretic/Max Cat weight control dry and Merrick wet every day. Her appetite is fine, thank goodness. It never occurred to me that pollen could be doing it (we are in Wisconsin, where the temps have been...

    ragdoll overgrooming

Our 7 year old, previously always healthy and beautiful ragdoll, Maggie, has been overgrooming. She has chewed off a large patch of hair on her lower back/tail and also on her legs. We took her to the vet twice, saw 2 different vets. One said it was a flea allergy, another said cystitis. She has...

Help if you can..bumpy scab on under neck?

I had a longhaired cat who developed a similar problem after being shampooed. The scabs got so bad he licked off all his neck fur and he scratched them open so badly his neck was covered with open sores. During this time I took him to 4 different vets, each of whom said something different, from...

Kitten "chilling out" in litter box

I have a ragdoll who came from a cattery (long story) and she used to do this, too. It was suggested to me that cats who come from environments with lots of other cats will do this for territorial reasons, but Maggie seems to have grown out of it.

Oh, poor Bear (and poor you.) I have a Bear too and this is breaking my heart.

Don't Bathe My Cats - Am I a Bad Mom?

I had a very traumatic experience bathing a cat. When my London (now over the rainbow bridge) was a year or so old, some idiot guy I knew insisted that I give him a bath and it would be ok to use human shampoo. So I did it. Then, a couple of days later I noticed weird creeping crud on London's...

    Can't black cats meow "normally"

I'm glad so many of you have black cats - they tend not to be adopted. My first black cat had a high-pitched squeak for her normal conversational voice, my second one has a pretty normal meow but more often chirrs and trills.

Bitsy scoops kibble out of bowl with paw, won't eat it normally..why?

My chocolate lynx point does this. You could put a clean cloth or plastic mat under the bowl to keep the food off the floor. It never bothered me, I just thnk it's funny.

Bear is at the vet. He's very sick, liver looks horrible.

I have a kitty named Bear, too, and I know how I would feel if he were so ill. I'm so sorry the two of you have had to go through this.for Bear's swift recovery.

    Whats your favorite purebred cat?

I have a seal bicolor Ragdoll, two nonstandard (longlegged) Munchkins, and a black shorthair Moggie...they are all special and I don't think there is any breed I wouldn't love.

    Cats emotionless and selfish?

Everybody here knows cats aren't emotionless. And that they do form powerful bonds with humans. They are selfish, but so are humans. Dogs are natural sycophants - their survival depends on it - and I think that the dog lovers who hate cats have some need for absolute, unwavering, complete and...
