    My cat might have asthma

I'm taking a brief break from another Saturday afternoon -- warm and rainy, just perfect -- spent on dust remediation! So what better time than now to post this link to an interesting article in Wired about indoor air quality?! 🙀 😱 Even though I won't be buying all these machines, it gave me...

    Homemade cat treats?

Exactly! The dog-sized bags are much cheaper per ounce. We buy large bags of Pure Bites and even at the vet's, where the prices are much higher than on Chewy, they're still way, way cheaper than buying little bags labeled for cats at Petco. That said, I bought a small bag at Petco first to see...

    Cats suddenly dislike their food

It can be both! So we can give suggestions: What food(s) did your cats suddenly reject? And what kinds of food do they tend to like?

Frustrated by small unreliable food brands (especially INSTINCT) + food allergies

This is a good point! I'm starting to think that small pet food companies are just waiting to be acquired and cash out like tech and biotech companies. (Merrick, now part of Purina, is a good example of that!)

Frustrated by small unreliable food brands (especially INSTINCT) + food allergies

Yes, Rawz is one of the best. Our cats like it, though not as leftovers! I wish our local stores would sell the small cans without special orders! Out of the really big companies, I think Sheba pates are the best... but I'm not sure there are any that don't have chicken or fish. "Best" doesn't...

Best commercial raw food since no more RadCat?

When I make homemade food with supplements, I freeze most of it in small food storage containers. When I make Alnutrin food, I use a pound of meat and one packet of Alnutrin; the batch goes into 10 containers. (Each container contains two servings.) When I make EZ Complete food, I use whatever...

Eggs good or bad for kitty?

You could do that, though I really think @daftcat75 had a good point about this: Some cats don't really like it so smaller amounts may be more palatable, plus sometimes too much (for an individual cat) can cause diarrhea, as @bitkit noted. (The choline in the egg yolk pushes helps move food...

Eggs good or bad for kitty?

This is great advice. I add hard-boiled egg yolk (that I just boil up when I need them) to our cats' homemade food. They get an average of around one extra yolk a week. (There's also egg yolk in the cooked food supplements I use.)

Help! Cat no longer eating raw.

Merrick makes a lot of various lines: I'd check their site to look at ingredient lists.

    Cat with clear mucus poop

I'm glad to hear he's better! Is there any chance he ate part of a plant? One of our cats did that and had the same symptoms -- including the clear mucous "poop." We didn't know what had happened until a few days later when we found a small and dried-up mound of very real poop that was also very...

Help! Cat no longer eating raw.

It's very frustrating to try to find a food that will work for a cat! A few things that came to mind when I read your post: -LID doesn't necessarily mean recipes are simple. It generally seems to mean just one protein. Unfortunately, many pet food companies then just add in filler ingredients...

Help! Cat no longer eating raw.

I agree about "the simpler the better." It's impossible here to sort out which food or ingredient might be causing the problem because there are Primal, kibble, and the rabbit cup food to consider. A quick check of the rabbit food shows that it has peas: some cats get diarrhea from various...

    My cat might have asthma

I'm very glad to hear she's doing well, Azazel! I'd thought it was probably your lynx point: she and Ireland seem to have a lot in common. (Including a bit of stuffiness and an occasional watery left eye, things I've always chalked up to her having a URI right after we adopted here.) I don't...

    My cat might have asthma

Thank you very much to both of you! Yes, I'm in the US. Two others that have been mentioned a fair bit are Inhouse (which is in Vanuatu rather than Canada -- I'd love to just go pick it up!) and Northwest. At a quick glance, Canada Drugs Online (I put in the link again since yours split rachbu...

    My cat might have asthma

rachbu, what you write pretty much fits my view of it, too! Ireland is an active cat who's healthy, other than a body part or two that aren't quite as healthy so need some extra care. :) Even the vet didn't seem overly concerned: this is just something important to do to keep her healthy. I'm...
