I'm so sorry to hear that your kitty has CRF. :( I lost my baby Simba to it in 2007. I opted not to do SQ fluids because he did not respond to them when they did the initial treatment at the vet based on lab results. I got a lot of crap from other kitty owners on the messageboards about it...
catpaws: As horrible as I'm sure it is to wake up next to a wet mouse, your story made me smile. Gotta love it!!!
Ty likes to bring the fishing/wand toys in to our bedroom at night to play. He will come in growling a little bit and carrying it in his mouth and then drop it on top of us on...
Ty plays fetch, but his sister, Weezy does not. As he's gotten older, he doesn't play it as much anymore, but when he was a kitten, he would want to do it all the time. He's picky about what toys he will fetch, though.
For the scratching, you can get this product called Sticky Paws. It is double-sided tape and really works. I used it with my old kitty, Simba, who loved to scratch on the furniture to get attention/get picked up.
I would definitely add another litter box upstairs, too....maybe where he likes...
I'm a fan of using the recipe that you posted (minus the dry vac part...I just let it dry on its own) and following it up with Nature's Miracle Urine Destroyer (an enzyme cleaner). I recently purchased Anti-Icky Poo, and I don't like the way that it smells...though I do get sick of the way that...
Update: I called the vet today because Ty has been very lethargic and hasn't been eating at all...no treats, nothing. He has noticeable lost weight. He hasn't been greeting us at the door like usual. They recommended reducing his dosage to half (0.25ml). I spoke with one of the other vets...
Ty's Prozac is "triple fish flavored" with real fish (we live on the coast) from a compound pharmacy.
Do you think that the liquid being cold versus warm/room temperature makes a difference?
My husband helped last night with the dosing after two failed attempts at giving it to him which made...
Thanks for your reply! I'm glad to hear for everyone that 2 weeks sounds to be about how long it will take for Ty to adjust to the meds. Now, if I can just get it in his mouth. Try #1 this evening was another bust. I didn't even get it close to his mouth. Sigh....
I wish that Feliway and/or Rescue Remedy had worked. :( We tried them during the first year, and I gave up after several months.
Tonight, my attempts to give Ty his dosage via suspension was a bust. I ended up with a big ole scratch on my arm, and I think he hates me now. I got in about...
Hi! I'm new here though I've been lurking and reading for quite some time. Before I get to my question, I'll give you all a bit of history on cat, Ty. We've had Ty and his sister for over 4 years. They were littermates who couldn't have too different personalities if you tried. From the...
