Introducing 16 Year Old Cat Into My Household

I haven't been here in a week, because my vet and I did decide to put her down. At least it is summer so I could bury her, on my property. I decided to bury Oscar's ashes with her. Molly and Mister better live for at least as long as the poor sweet old gal.

Introducing 16 Year Old Cat Into My Household

This might be the last day of Orinnas life, she has a vet appointment today. 18 years is pretty good for a cat. She is refusing to eat anything, and her teeth are fine. I will not let her starve to death.

Introducing 16 Year Old Cat Into My Household

unfortunately i think Oriana might be dying, the vets can't find anything wrong with her but she won't eat dry or wet food, and i found her hiding under a footstool. I'm discussing euthanasia so she doesn't starve to death. but she walks around like normal and meows just as much when i'm around...

Introducing 16 Year Old Cat Into My Household

I can see how you would see that, but you don't know Oriana. She is so absolutely afraid of even car rides, my sister would pay to have an in home vet to come see her. My sister was very worried about the stress of a cross country airplane flight. This was not something she did without...

Introducing 16 Year Old Cat Into My Household

The past couple of days it seems Mister has decided he wants the upstairs back. The windows up there really gives the best view around. If Oriana is in another room he just chills. If she chases him down the stairs, he is back within a few minutes. There is a new kitten on my back porch, it...

February 2020 Picture of the Month: "Why can't I.....?"

Yeah, I totally misread the qualifications. "Why I don't dare change the channel" would be more appropriate. Though she really likes basketball too, whenever their sneakers squeak on the floor she lets out a little squeak too:redheartpump:. But she still ends up behind the tv looking for all...

February 2020 Picture of the Month: "Why can't I.....?"

Oh this brought me back to trying to install 7 new blinds in my living room windows, I had about 3 more helpers than I needed holding the pull-strings for me.

February 2020 Picture of the Month: "Why can't I.....?"

Entry. Molly: can't I interact with the images I see on the tv. She loves Bob Ross on netflix, but always ends up behind the tv looking for the source of the colors and sound. "Why I don't dare change the channel"

    First Time Kitty Owner

Never go by what the food manufacturer says, they want you to feed your cats more. 15-20 calories per pound of cat per day is generally accepted for indoor cats. The only way to be sure of what your cat needs is to weigh them often. I give my 9.5 lb very active cat 200 calories a day, and she...

Introducing 16 Year Old Cat Into My Household

Oriana was feeling lite when I picked her up, so I weighed her and she is only 9.8 pounds:(. She was 16 pounds when this adventure began. Over this long of time we don't have to worry about fatty liver disease, I just worry about her starving. The vet says it's normal for very senior cats to...

What's considered "normal" after a urinary block?

Urinary blockage is all about the PH, it can be too much or too low depending on the problem. As soon as you figure out which problem your kitty has, the sooner you can fix it. I've been there, and it is scary as hell.

Introducing 16 Year Old Cat Into My Household

Oriana has taken a liking to the water fountain downstairs, so I have ordered her one of her own. This is getting ridiculous with 4 water bowls and 2 fountains for 3 kitties. But the more water the better in all cats it seems.

Flying across the country with anxious senior cat

I have nothing really to say about cats, because they can fit under the seat. I would never fly with a bigger dog, they are put in baggage and thousands die every year because it is cold and not pressurized. When they die you are given their "value" of a few hundred bucks.

Introducing 16 Year Old Cat Into My Household

I got Oriana one of these window cat perch's. It says it can hold up to 30 pounds. She only weighs about 11 pounds. She was hopping up onto it and the suction cups were falling off. Luckily I got an email asking how I liked it, and I complained. They suggested I make sure the window was...
