So frustrated--sleeping problems and my cat.

That is a good idea! I've never heard of them. Can you just get one at PetSmart? Or did you order yours online??

So frustrated--sleeping problems and my cat.

I wish I could just shut the door! But he would meow still and scratch and scratch and scratch. And probably destroy the carpet, too. Ugh! It wouldn't be much better. Plus, we have a little 2-year-old kitty who I don't want to punish, either.

    Mentally Retarded Cat?

Well, no offense, but from the tone of your post, it might be best that you find another home for Oliver--one that's willing to work with him a bit more and have more patience. Good luck.

So frustrated--sleeping problems and my cat.

Update. Well, we fed Terrell half of his evening food at the normal time and half at about midnight (when my night-owl husband was ready to go to bed). Sure enough, at 4.45AM this morning he wakes us up, pacing up and down the bed, walking all over us, meowing, etc. UGH! But we both just...

So frustrated--sleeping problems and my cat.

Our vet told us to feed him twice a day. He's on SD prescription diet food because he's overweight, so I'm wary of messing with his meals and mealtimes. I'll ask her about that, though. The thing is, I don't think it's because he's hungry. He eats at 8PM! Often there will still be food in his...

So frustrated--sleeping problems and my cat.

Our big boy, Terrell, wakes us up at 3AM literally every morning to feed him breakfast. I am SO frustrated! And totally exhausted. I don't know what to do. This has been going on for about a year now. We feed him at 8PM, so I don't really think he's hungry. But he will NOT let up. He'll walk...

At what time of day do you feed your cat?

Is there any ideal time? I usually feed mine at 6AM and again at 8.30PM. I'd like to feed them earlier in the evening, but when I do, they get me up at like 3AM meowing for their breakfasts. What does everyone else do?

I'm so concerned--my kitty is very overweight

Renny, we don't keep them separated. They won't eat if they are. They're too intersted in what the other cat is eating! (Those stinkers.) So I usually try to feed them when I'm doing someting in the kitchen (dishes or cooking or getting my lunch ready in the morning) so I can watch them and head...

I'm so concerned--my kitty is very overweight

Thanks for the reassurance. Terrell is 25 pounds, when I weighed him unofficially. (I weighed myself, and then weighed myself holding him.) When he was 22 pounds, our doctor wasn't THAT concerned: She said that he's just a big boy all around, but that if he gets any bigger we'll have to do some...

I'm so concerned--my kitty is very overweight

I should also say that my "kitty" is ten years old. Not a kitty, per se, but my kitty forever.

I'm so concerned--my kitty is very overweight

My boy Terrell is so overweight. He always has been a big guy, but it's gotten very bad lately. He's going to the vet next week, but in the meantime, I'm feeling just horrible. I try so hard to get him active (we even adopted a kitty playmate for him!), and I'm super careful (almost obsessively...

Please help--how to keep adult cat from kitten's food?

We successfully introduced Penny, our 3-month old kitten, to Terrell, our 7-year old cat. Terrell is a bit overweight (vet said not too much to worry about), and we were hoping Penny would spur him into activity. Well, now that they're together, Terrell is eating all of Penny's food! We've...

How can I keep my kitten from eating my adult cat's food?

We free feed our kitten, Penny. We feed our adult cat Terrell twice a day. And their food is already in different rooms! I just don't know what to do. Now, we're just shutting a door between the rooms so Terrell can eat in peace and open it again when he's done. I hope she grows out of this...

How can I keep my kitten from eating my adult cat's food?

Whoops, and she's also a 11 weeks old. We keep her own dish full of food for her so she can eat whenever she wants. I'm pretty sure she's not hungry, because she always has her own food in her own dish. I think she's just nosey and likes to eat, period.

How can I keep my kitten from eating my adult cat's food?

Why put the squirt bottle away? Also, we're feeding her Hill's dry kitten food, which the vet gave us.
