I have a cat who loves licking foil. She was abandoned and lived rough for a while so I suspect she associates the foil with thrown out foil used for cooking under a grill. Likely to have a coating of tasty fat.
I agreed. You cannot force friendship on them and they may remain in separate social groups. I have a similar issue. I have had 2 cats for 5 years but was recently adopted by an abandoned stray. I thought it would be smooth as one of my cats seemed to befriend the stray - they even ate together...
I just use old plates or saucers. Why spend £s when charity shops can benefit along with your wallet. The only advantage to some specific cat bowls is if your cat pushes the plate whilst eating - rubber grips on the bottom prevent this. If that's not a problem, use anything. I think full of food...
