Your Chumley journel is fascinating! Our Hobbes is FIV+ also. He lives with our other cats and there has never been a problem (knock on wood).
You are doing such a great job with him. He looks amazing. You can really see his progress in the pictures you posted.
It's great that your cat is back to acting more normal. After J.R. had been off the meds for 4 days he went back to to vet for another test and his thyroid tested at normal levels, but that was only because he had been on the medication. Without it he would be back in the same boat. Thankfully...
The same exact thing happened with my J.R. He was diagnosed Feb 09. He also was fine for exactly two weeks, then had the same symptoms you described. I took him back to the vet, who didn't think it was the Tapazole because it was two weeks after the first pill, but she trusts me to know my cats...
Thanks for the kind words and for the great link. If I can't find a food on Janet and Binky's list I just look at the ingredients and avoid the ones I know really affect Bailey.
All of my other cats are pretty good at eating whatever I feed them (sometimes they are not so eager to eat the...
I can so relate to what you're saying! My Bailey is also diabetic and I know the best thing for him and all my other cats is to feed all wet food, but with 19 cats the cost is prohibitive. Bailey can be diet controlled, but he also has Inflamatory Bowel Disease (IBD) and my vet said to add some...
hmmmm, well, I don't blame Nooby for not eating the Hills food. I'm not familiar with the ZD formula, but only two of my 20 cats have ever liked the Hills, prescription or regular.
Fingers crossed you can get a referral to a good specialist.
I'm glad Anubis' eye is doing better now. Something else occurred to me. My diabetic cat displays extreme hunger still, 5 months after being diagonosed. He also has had a poo problem. I give him Fortiflora and my vet also suggested Metamucil 1/4 tsp twice a day. His poos have firmed up and are...
Hello! I'm sorry to hear about the eye and poo problems you have had with your Nooby. It's hard on the poor baby and his family.
My Aly has frequent eye issues, also. We give him L-lysine daily, sprinkled on his wet food. We give 500 mg for maintenance and up it to 1,000 mg when he is having...
I'm so sorry you had to say goodbye so soon (it's always too soon). We should all be so lucky to live such a great life that he did. Hunting and playing in the great Idaho outdoors, then coming home to his loving family!! Really, what more is there?
Another possibility is diabetes. I took Bailey to the vet with the same symptoms you described, certain he had hyperthyroidism, but he is diabetic. I took J.R. in with similar symptoms a month later, fearful he also was diabetic, and found out he has hyperthyroidism!

It's good she seems a bit perkier. I know how hard it is to see them not being themselves. Try not to be too hard on yourself. Even if you are super vigilent you just can't see everything. Remember, generally by the time cats start showing something is wrong, it's pretty wrong! They are...
