I'm so sorry for everything that you're going through with Arlo (adorable name!).
I just found your thread, but have been dealing with a similar situation with a 12 week old kitten. She had her first vaccine (Purevax non-adjuvanted FVRCP) last Thursday (8/23). On Monday (8/27) she started...
Thank you for the reply White Shadow - and for directing me to that thread. Some of the symptoms in that kitten do sound similar to Lilly's - and the meds are the same/similar. I am located in Madison, WI.
The ER vet suggested that she should not receive any more Metacam or azithromycin before...
She did okay overnight at the emergency vet, and she's still eating thankfully. She does have a moderately high fever, so they're giving her IV fluids to help bring that down this morning. If all goes well, they're thinking she could possibly come home tonight - it's just a matter of supporting...
Thank you... I am just praying for a different outcome for Lilly, but worried that we are on a downward spiral again. Fingers crossed that we are not - I just couldn't handle losing Lilly too.
An update on Lilly - she is now at the Emergency/Specialist center where her sister was treated/hospitalized.
I took her back to my regular vet this morning since she STILL wasn't acting like herself, but was still eating, using the litter box normally, etc. I was worried that she was still so...
Thank you for the replies... one of the reasons I trust this vet is that she generally doesn’t push anything and everything on you... she takes a conservative, only what’s needed approach. That being said, I feel like she should be a bit more concerned about this situation - though again, I know...
Just wondering if others on here have any experience with antigenic vaccine reactions in kittens?
I have a 12 week old calico girl (who is the sister to Frannie, the kitten we lost from their litter for anyone who previously saw that thread) who we are keeping. She just had her first distemper...
Poor little guy - bless you for taking him in! I would agree with separating them at times if he needs a break. Kittens really only have two speeds (ON and off) and your siamese is just doing what kittens do. I have had to separate kittens from the same litter before when some just got bigger...
It could be either of those diagnoses, or something else entirely... it can be hard to tell. One of our cats was prone to "cat acne" and we never had to do anything more than wash her chin periodically with a medicated soap from the vet (and make sure food/water bowls stay extremely clean). If...
Thank you catlover... it has been a very trying time for us emotionally, and thinking that this had something to do with a medication that we consented to her receiving just makes it that much harder to reconcile. I know it will take time - thank you for your kind words.
I am so sorry to hear all of the stories about negative side effects from convenia in this thread.
We just lost an 8 week old rescued kitten and I believe it was due to a convenia injection. She had a particularly stubborn/resistant upper respiratory infection that did not clear up right away...
I wanted to take a moment to thank everyone for their concern and thoughts for little Frannie, and give you an update.
After my last post, they did finally relent and draw more blood to test for crypto, as well as toxoplasmosis. While they were doing so, an incredibly incompetent vet tech was...
Thank you... I am waiting for an update on her after her first dose of oral anti-convulsants (Keppra) and to see if she can go home tomorrow. She's been hospitalized for 4 days now, and absolutely nothing has been accomplished (except the addition of her seizure meds). I was able to visit with...
Thank you for your kind support - it helps when you feel like you're all alone, trying to advocate for this tiny kitten, and all of these specialists are looking at you like you've lost your mind. The arrogance of vets when people questions them never ceases to amaze me.
Thank you... and it's getting to that point. Practically every vet has dismissed it, but I can't understand why - just because they may not see it very often, doesn't mean it doesn't happen - and NOTHING else that they are trying is working. My fear is that they will not do anything about it...
