Sadly, we had to put Marcel down tonight. The echocardiogram showed that his heart was severely enlarged and he had also developed asthma. The vet said that he could die painfully at any moment, and even best case scenario he would live for a year at most on extensive medication. It was horribly...
whollycat, the vet did mention fluid accumulation. I've been doing some reading on my own...it seems like once a cat starts exhibiting symptoms of an enlarged heart like this, the prognosis is very poor, like in the span of a few months. Am I right? I would be fine if he could live out his last...
I just got back from talking to the emergency vet and seeing Marcel. He's improved quite a bit, and they are going to keep him for observation overnight. Basically, the vet thinks that he has an enlarged heart, so when he gets an infection that a normal cat would fight off no problem, it puts a...
About eight months ago, we adopted a Persian mix named Marcel. He was low energy from the start and would just sit on the couch, but became somewhat affectionate. He would come in and sleep with us at night and purr. My fiancee wanted to try him on some higher end food (he'd be on Fancy Feast)...
I went crazy at the pet store once, and I've got every cat toy and do-dad there is pretty much, but what mine like best out of everything are those cheap-o $0.99 crinkle mice!
The other most popular toys are Da Bird, the Cat Dancer, and the laser pointer.
Just had another thought- that particular company also makes shelves that mount on the wall. Those could go up as high as you want, and you could space them so they're easy for your cats to climb.

I just got one of these- its 5' tall I think, but it's easy to climb, and looks good enough that I don't feel like I'm sacrificing the style of my living space for the cats. I have it in white laminate, and it's sturdy and well made.

I have the litter locker two, and I don't have to change the refill anywhere near once a month. I got it when I got Annie back in May and I've gone through maybe 3 total rings? So for what it's worth it's not as expensive as it seems.
I use Mrs. Meyers in lavender! It smells SO GOOD!! The one I like best is the all purpose cleaner that comes in a concentrated formula that you dilute with water to use. So even though the bottle of concentrate costs about $9.00 (that's what it costs at my grocery store at least, but it's...
1. How many cats do you have? Two cats
2. How many litter boxes do you have? One (I had two, but they both agreed on one of the boxes. Since space is tight, I was happy to ditch the unpopular box.)
3. How deep do you keep your litter? About 3-4''. I don't like the pee clumps to touch the...
I wouldn't mind my future children having piercings that they would be allowed to wear at school and at their jobs. I wouldn't allow them to gauge any of their piercings for fear that they'll be stuck with more than a tiny scar where the hole closes. I would only pay for the first ear...
For me personally, I would say yes only in the case that there's explicitly no mutual physical attraction. Such as both parties already being in committed relationships, the other person is gay, etc.
That said, with me being engaged, I would feel really weird meeting up with a hetero male...
They love to use the couch to jump up onto or down from the tree! Super funny! And fortunately no one has tried to use the tree as a handy perch for knocking all my pictures off the wall! (I was a little worried they would seize that opportunity!)
My tree came a couple weeks ago, and the cats have been loving it! It's sturdy, well-made, and very nice looking. Very happy with it and I know it's something that I'll be able to keep for many years.
I have a set of Cuisinart Multiclad stainless and it's awesome! For around $100 you won't get a whole set, but I'm sure you could pick up a few essential pieces. There seem to be some good deals online. (The big 12 piece set is on sale on amazon now for $200-ish.) I started with the smaller...
