Ty! Nobody dared adopt an untouchable cat that might sometimes pee in your bed. I didn't want to have to give her to a farm or something, she's already been through so much. Plus her bonded kitten was getting so sweet and cuddly, they deserved a warm indoor home.
It's not great, I'll have to...
I've got some good news to follow up with on this, it's been over a month since she last peed in bed 🥳
I ended up adopting her and, with no pressure to get this to stop any more, I kinda just gave her peace. I stopped giving her any calming supplements or making any other changes. I just play...
I appreciate you helping me think this through 🤗
You're definitely right that there's a huge risk this will become a habit. It's happened like a dozen times already, so it's fairly bad.
I actually tried aluminum foil covering the area where she usually pees. All the cats seem startled by it...
She has made a lot of progress! She started off hissing and growling whenever we enter the room, and look at her now (she was under the couch as I was sitting on the couch):
She really is a good cat. I remember a few months ago she sniffed my finger while it was smelling of treats, and she...
Many thanks! Trying to keep this short while including all relevant info:
She was a street cat, never been in a shelter, but has a bit of trauma (bonded brother hit by car, previous kittens killed by fox, bullied by other cats in the colony etc.)
She sleeps at the foot of the bed. She pees...
That's one of the kittens we were planning on keeping from before, we just fell in love with him.
He is officially the potato inspector. Every time anyone is peeling potatoes, he is right there, investigating each and every one of them. This is one of my favorite pictures of him.
He is a...
We decided to keep her and her favorite kitten!
I tried really hard to find a home for her, videos on social media etc. Several people asked about the kitten. Only a couple were actually interested in her, and I got ghosted after I mentioned she peed in our bed. I can't really blame them, I'm...
I hope you're right, because it sounds like she's gonna be stuck with me for a while!
Here's a cute pic of her and her favorite kitten, both just back from the vet and a bit woozy.
That heater almost killed her yesterday... she tried dropping down behind it, and got herself stuck. She flailed...
So, momma's been to the vet. She had to be sedated for the vets to check her, with something even stronger than the sedative I gave her at home :(
It seems momma has some skin irritation. There's some on her shoulder, and some on her inner thigh.
It doesn't seem to be anything too bad, based on...
The cream will be a problem, I still can only touch her head sometimes, barely. If there is no alternative, I'll pin her down and apply it, though I hope we will be able to find something less stressful. Meds should be fine, she's happy to eat them in liquid treats.
I haven't seen her scratch...
Baby is fine, he stopped licking himself as much, appears to be healing well. Cone is off and he's back with his siblings.
New problem with momma, though. I just noticed she's missing a bit of fur. You can only really see it when she's stretched out a bit.
She has a vet appointment in a couple...
Many thanks!
I talked to the vet today and they'd like me to keep the cone on until at least Sunday. Poor baby...
I guess most are fine, but a small % end up actually tearing something or causing an infection? We'll see if we need to take this gamble later on.
We have a disinfectant to spray on...
So, I got my boy neutered today, and it's not going quite as smoothly as with the gals...
He keeps licking himself. Like every minute, head to nether regions.
I put a cone on him. He isn't very happy about it, keeps struggling to take it off, but it seems to be getting the job done.
We were...
This windowsill has been her favorite spot so far, and the window is cracked open so she can smell the outside.
I did get some chicken wire to try to set something up on the balcony, though its quality is questionable, I'm not sure I trust it to be good enough for her to not escape.
I'd be happy...
You gave her excellent advice! I hope she listens and they solve it for her!
I binge-watched all of Jackson Galaxy's pee related videos after this started happening. We have 8 boxes for 6 cats, in every room of the house (my dumb for not having one in the bedroom from the start, this may be...
