Thank you all for the comments. We put the two older cats (Maya and Kai) on a low dose of Prozac for the past 5 weeks and the situation is doing much better! Maya (gray) will still chase the kitten from time to time but the kitten now growls back and then hides. Kai (black) is so much more...
Here is a video from today. Maya (gray) is chasing and swatting Sitka the kitten (white). Does this look like aggression or something else? Maya didn't hiss, growl or bite. Sitka was hissing. You can see them on the bottom left corner, unfortunately the Nest camera angle wasn't great.
It’s better but not great yet. The kitten chases Kai a lot and Kai hissed at her and runs away, but the kitten doesn’t get the message. For the most part they’re ok with each other, except when the kitten gets all hyper. Maya tolerates the kitten for the most part but will often corral her into...
I always wish these posts had final updates so here it goes.
Diagnosis and Treatment
First tested positive for ringworm with home UV light on July 13th (glowed greenish on her toe that also had hair loss). Next day tested positive on Wood’s lamp and started 2x daily topical miconosol and oral...
7 week update - The kitten (Sitka) is about 3.5 months now and was recently spayed (last week). The 2 resident cats (2.5 yo, female) are doing better with the kitten but we're not out of the woods yet... One of the females (Kai) will basically hiss at the kitten anytime she gets too close...
We're facing the exact same problem with our recently adopted kitten, she's 12 weeks now and runs anytime she hears the litter box. I have to be on watch to distract her when I hear the cats go to the bathroom. We have 2 litterboxes downstairs and one upstairs but the adult cats won't use the...
We’re 11 days in since I noticed the hair loss and we started treatment the next day. She’s on Itrafungol for 7 days on/7 days off for a total of 5 weeks. We’re also doing Miconosol twice a day and Micoseb bath once a week. The hair is staring to grow back and no new spots have appeared (knock...
Looks like ringworm unfortunately. Dealing with it right now. If you can get the equivalent of Monistat 7 (miconazole 2%) you can start treating topically until you can get to a vet. Wash everything you can with hot water and disinfect all surfaces you can with bleach, it’s very contagious.
We have 2 Feliway plug ins in the area the cats spend the most time. We decided to not isolate the kitten because she screams bloody murder when she’s locked up, she’s too little to be left alone so much (12 weeks). She’s on oral meds, topical meds and everyone is getting a medicated shampoo...
