This is what my research of this topic discovered, but I am not a health care professional and I would urge you to speak to your governing body as this is a serious health care matter:
As a journalist who had a potential exposure to rabies, I found out a lot about the disease.
1. It is brutal...
I'm finding the metal comb the best, along with the furminator. My little fluff ball turned 1 a few weeks ago and is the most darling sweetie ever. I miss my two babies in the avatar here every day, but my new little fluff ball has been so wonderful in helping me heal.
Hugs to you. I just went through this with my boy Bandit (likely, as I never tested him given his age and knowing wouldn't have affected the outcome).
What can I say? I had an arsenal of medication to make him feel better--Cerenia, Pepcid AC, buperenorphine---the list goes on. Bandit also had a...
Please check with your vet before using any of our suggestions. While Pepcid AC can't hurt, it's important to run it by your vet as only he/she knows your cat's full medical history. Pepcid AC halts bile production for a cat, and allows the pancreas to rest. Humans are not the same as cats and...
Pancreatitis is a common test to run with most blood pannels. It's included with many blood tests and is not separate ---it's usually in a normal panel. It's not cheap but it's not a separate test. At least not where I am.
The vet should have prescribed or given him a dose of mirtazapane (spl??). It's known to help with diarrhea. Also, I'd get him some b12 if his bowels have been runny as he might be losing vitamins that way and that will cause him nausea.
I'm not sure if cats have pain with leukemia, but...
Having had extensive experience with this, here's what you need to ask your vet:
1. Pepcid AC---best stuff ever. I think this really helps the kitty recover, but that's just my feeling----ask your vet if you can start this---I gave it to my boy for 10 days, 1/4 tablet morning and nite. Get a...
Poor guy!! His tooth must have been really sore---I'd get him to the vet to make sure there's not infection going on--that will strain his immune system. Then, talk to them about getting his teeth checked--I hope it all works out! Glad he's eating again :)
Don't self medicate--take to the vet---with his visits and his age, he may have picked up something. Better the vet chose what to give him.
Without upsetting you, my beautiful girl was 17 with perfect blood tests ...and she was suddenly dying. Her veins wouldn't hold in water and was leaking...
Thanks all! Congestion is gone. They indeed said it was from the intubation tube and it's common for them to be a bit congested. She's been nuts! I Think 2 days of sleeping has created an insane kitten! Hahahaha. She did have her first small barf---I didn't even know until I was heading out...
Just a side note--most ultrasounds are NOT recorded depending on what is being ultrasounded. My mom's Persian had to go to a heart specialist due to a grade 4 murmur in her heart. They, being a specialist, always recorded ultrasounds for the reason that they could then go over it with you and...
Having dealt with megacolon for 16 and a half years, I'm feeling like a 'poopie' expert when it comes to clean ups and tricks. Restoralax, if you can get it, is better than Miralax. While it's the same product, I found Restoralax caused less gas. Again, the active ingredient is PEG...
I found b-12 way better for appetite stimulation--another great thing---Pepcid AC. Speak to your vet about using Pepcid AC----cats in renal failure have specific needs and I think they can use it, but I'm not a vet. It halts the production of acid in the stomach, which can cause nausea/vomiting...
Try to give him lots of water---flavor it even. Bladder infections suck!! They make you feel like you have to pee all the time. Hopefully he will improve with medication! ALso, look into a low ash diet so that reduces the chance of crystals.
I would take her to the vet. Self medicating her may be hiding a more serious issue. She could have an infected tooth that can cause other issues. My best to you both! :)
