Cats hide when they are sick.  Cats are prey animals.  We think of them as predators, but they are also prey, in the wild, to larger animals.  A sick cat feels very vulnerable, and hides.

My 2 cents worth:  I think it's a crime.  If animals had rights, they wouldn't do it.  The shelters are full of beautiful, healthy, affectionate, smart and wonderful cats who need homes.  To breed cats to look a certain way so one can sell and make money off them is, I strongly feel, morally...

If I were you, I would just stop using the scent.  Period.   Cats can be allergic to fish, as to chicken or beef.  Try offering a chicken based food next.

Mark told me about having his little Elsie declawed before he even took her home, after the fact. I can never feel the same about him again. He lost my respect. The very next year, declawing became illegal where we live. Too late for Elsie. But at least I know Mark can never do that again.
