I am in my 60's and have had cats all of my life. Right now I have 4 living in my home. They go outside in a sheltered patio where they cannot get out. They love morning time when they can go "outside", listen to the sounds and forage in my plants. I lost 3 cats in the last 12 months to lymphoma, but I still have 4 left. I find cats so intriguing because they are like little space aliens living in a cat body. They can do so much that humans cannot do. I live alone but I have these little creatures with so much personality surrounding me every day. Each one has it's own traits.
