Two incredibly overweight cats who don't like playing with toys. What's a good diet for them?

They're absolutely related, that I know for a fact. My brother's friend was moving and was just going to dump them in a field somewhere. My cat has bald knuckles. She likes to rip at them as a way of relaxing before she sleeps. She used to rip out chunks of her flank. It would look like a cat...

Two incredibly overweight cats who don't like playing with toys. What's a good diet for them?

Unfortunately it's an apartment, so no stairs. I have an auto feeder for my cats. They're terrified of it, which I find hilarious. It might be a challenge to get them to adapt to one. That's a brilliant writeup, thank you! Their food dish is on the floor next to where my brother spends 99% of...

Two incredibly overweight cats who don't like playing with toys. What's a good diet for them?

I'm babysitting my mom's two cats and have come to the realization that they're incredibly overweight. I'm talking 20+ pounds. One of them knocked over my cat tree trying to get onto it. Another is out of breath just jumping onto the couch. I'm a bit shocked at how much weight they've put on...

Cat got a wound in July, wound closed and fur began growing in. Today there's a huge wound in the same spot. What's going on?? *Warning pictures*

I had him at the vet. Fortunately he had no fever or pain so the vet gave him an antibiotic and sent him home. The odd thing is the vet noted the bald spot when I had him for his rabies vaccine and didn't think it was anything. I'm guessing he didn't have time to carefully look since poor Kira...

Cat got a wound in July, wound closed and fur began growing in. Today there's a huge wound in the same spot. What's going on?? *Warning pictures*

He's definitely getting a vet appointment today. I don't understand how it could be healed, then explode like this. He didn't act like it was sensitive to touch after it healed. It might have looked slightly odd, but I honestly don't remember. I'm super confused by it.

Cat got a wound in July, wound closed and fur began growing in. Today there's a huge wound in the same spot. What's going on?? *Warning pictures*

Something attacked Kira in July. I don't know the exact date, but it was likely after the 15th. He's very touchy and doesn't like to be handled, so I've mostly been hands off with it. I've kept an eye on it since it's so obvious and easy to see. The wound closed and fur began growing in so I...

    Dirty ears or mites?

It's definitely an abandoned family. They're all litterbox trained. I doubt that happens naturally in the wild. I have to admit I'm about to cry over all this. If I don't find a solution today they'll have to go to the shelter. My local shelter is completely full and they've started putting...

    Dirty ears or mites?

If there's any way at all you could help I'd definitely appreciate it. Mama is the biggest problem. She's not adjusting well and keeps attacking her kittens. She needs someone who can help her settle down and adjust. Unfortunately I'm not home a large portion of the day and just don't have time...

    Dirty ears or mites?

I'm really hoping it's not. I didn't wash my hands between handling them and my cats. Rookie move, I know. It's been years and years since I've dealt with mites. If it IS mites, do I have to completly sanitize the room they're in before my cats can go in? I can't remember how high of a risk they...

    Dirty ears or mites?

I unexpectedly rescued three kittens and their mama yesterday. They were abandoned on a large wooded property that butted up against two major roads. When I saw them they were running in traffic so home they came. I've been letting them decompress and kept them isolated from my other cats for...

Can another cat cause a wound like this?

Unfortunately he didn't have time to look. It was just a rabies appointment, so they were doing it in-between clients. It happened to work out that they got swamped with calls, two cranky ladies ("I don't care if you don't have an appointment open right now. Fluffy NEEDS to be seen. Can I just...

Can another cat cause a wound like this?

That's a relief to know. These guys are more than my whole world. If Kira got rabies I don't think I'd ever forgive myself. The plus side is I'm currently sitting at the vet getting all four cats microchipped. They're signed up for every shot under the sun. I grew up with a mother who didn't...

Can another cat cause a wound like this?

I'm hoping I'm just overreacting. We've definitely had raccoons around. The wound seems to be healing very well at least. And they're all getting their shots tomorrow. I have had issues with cats before. My cat fence got knocked down the other day so it's possible something got in. I'd expect...

Can another cat cause a wound like this?

Now I'm freaking out a bit. There's a chance it could have been a raccoon. If so I have no idea how long ago he was bitten. Stupidly I haven't vaccinated him for rabies. I don't want him stuck in a cage for 45 days. It would absolutely traumatize him and undo years of work on his anxiety. I have...

Can another cat cause a wound like this?

He shouldn't. My yard has netting on it to keep the cats from escaping. I once had the neighbor's cat get stuck in my yard from it. I'm going to go check the fencing again today to be sure. Definitely not a dog. My cats avoid them like the plague. If they even think they see one they flee inside.
