Asia and her cats

Hello! I'm a 6-year-old rescue dog who enjoys looking after our five resident cats and playing mum to a whole heap of rescue kittens that come through the house each year.

Unfortunately, almost all of my permanent companions have serious health problems.

Blackjack is a ten-year old male who "mum" rescued from the streets of Fujairah as a kitten. In 2017 he developed bladder stones and had to have an operation to remove his penis so that it wouldn't get blocked again. He had two blood transfusions during the recovery and that's when we discovered that he is FIV+. He still suffers from bladder infections.

Rose is a 3.5 year old ginger female who is also FIV+ and was recently diagnosed with kidney failure. We don't know how long she has left but "mum" is trying all the supplements and homeopathic remedies she can find. At the moment Rose is on Candioli Renal P, Candioli Renal N, Fegapet and CBD oil.

Boscaiola is 2.5 years old and was rescued at 6 months old already paralysed after being hit by a car. She went through months of daily physiotherapy and while she still scoots around most of the time on her bum, she can hop like a rabbit when she wants to move somewhere fast. She has also learnt how to climb the cat tree.

Peanut was found in a garden in July 2020 at 10 days old and was bottle-fed by "mum" with his two sisters. The girls were adopted but nobody ever wanted Peanut because he has a congenital eye-defect and may need cataract surgery in the near future.

Fantasmino is the newest member of the tribe. "Mum" heard him crying and found him (somehow) locked inside the meeting room of our condominium. He was born around April 2021. He also never found an adoptive family - mainly because "Mum" didn't try too hard.

Humans - Leanne (Welsh) and Alex (Italian).
