Hello Cat Friend!
Growing up on a farm, we had lots of animals, including cats. I used to play with them somewhat, but they were not my favorite animals to have around. I was allergic and I liked dogs better. My uncle used to throw kittens up on my back and shoulders when I was in the barn while he was milking cows. I never liked that either.
But one day this kitten came walking up the sidewalk where my daughters and I were standing and talking. It came straight up to us and my oldest daughter picked her up. She was full of lice so I got a towel out of the house and wrapped her up in it. My daughters fell in love. So I was going to keep it in the garage so they had something to play with. Well, after giving it a lice bath and brushing her up, my dad came over and said, "Why don't you keep her in the house so the girls can play with her more?" So, she became a total house cat.
Rachael, the Pretty Kitty, is our only pet and we have so much fun with her. She has the personality of a small dog and likes to play and watch birds. Most of the time she sleeps in various places of the house. She loves laying in the sun.
Rachael gets bathed regularly and she went from eating dry food to a mix of dry and wet food which she absolutely loves.
She comes to the name "Pretty Kitty" and doesn't know her real name at all. She has her own blog and is also on Instagram. She is pretty small but has a pretty coat of black with some brownish highlights and white markings on her belly. She loves catnip and playing with her toys. She especially likes it if you make her toys look like they are flying or she likes it if you make her toys hide behind walls and underneath furniture so she can set herself up to pounce.
If there is an open window in the house, she will find it and stare outside looking for birds.
She has earned her keep by killing 3 mice and 1 mole that got into our old farmhouse basement where she usually spends the night.
She is very friendly and is not shy around anyone. She expects certain things in the morning when we first get up like a few treats, morning petting, and sometimes even held for a while as she purrs loudly. She begs by softly jumping up against my leg as I eat breakfast, lunch, or dinner. She grabs for cheese and ham. Everything else pretty much just gets wasted after she inspects it and decides she doesn't want it.
Rachael is about 4 years on March 31, 2019 now. We gave her a birth date of March 31. We love our cat!!!
