Skidd came to us as a shelter rescue with horrible, God-awful gas; he is still very gassy. Shortly after his adoption, a tiny patch of ringworm on his paw spread to his entire body; he wound up mostly bald, got an infection on his neck from scratching it, and it took FAR longer to eradicate the problem than it should have, even with the help of our vet. He has major anxiety issues, gets separation anxiety, is often aggressive toward our other cat when he's been alone too long, and is prone to panicking. I've never met a kitten who didn't 'spazz'--rather, jump several feet in the air when surprised--but he's the only adult cat I've ever met who still does it. If anything, he does it more often than he did as a kitten, and with less provocation--it's not unheard of for someone's sniffle, sigh, or twitch to send him through the roof. Despite his issues, he's very affectionate and intelligent; of all the cats I taught 'fetch,' he's the only one who retained it, and he's also leash-trained. Apparently he's become somewhat of a celebrity at the vets, who report that he gets the most comments of any of their patients, especially about his name. The name "Skidd" was chosen as a nod to his skittish behavior and strange ability to do the Scooby Doo scramble even on carpet; "Rowan" was chosen for its meaning, as a nod to his bright red fur.
