I’ve been using Dr Elsey’s in scented litter for 10 years and I liked it for clumping ability and fairly low dust. However, recently I’ve noticed Dr elsey has gotten dustier and urine balls stick like cement on the side of litter box. I pour at least 4 inches of litter and I pool more to the areas where she goes most often. I’m willing to try other unscented clumping litter. Dr elsey must have changed the formula because it’s not the same.

I personally like to use the World's Best brand. Very little dust from my experience (though what little there is settles at the bottom of the bag, so when you're running low, it's better to just use a scoop to get out the rest, or else it could get pretty messy), and even though it's lightweight, I've found that just having a good litter mat helps reduce the amount of tracking. It also helps that it's made from corn so if your cat is prone to ingesting their litter it won't harm them, and if they track it on your carpet, it's super easy to clean up. I haven't had any trouble with it sticking to the litterbox since I've started using it.

yes, I use litter mat as well and pick up extra litter scattered around the area every time I scoop , that’s like 3-4 times a day for one cat. Dr elsey wasn’t that dusty before. I will have to research corn litter as I read it attracts insects

Arm and Hammer Clump and Seal for multi-cats is my favorite; however, since switching over to just Litter Robots in the house, we switched to Dr. Elsey's because it is cheaper and I do not have to worry as much about the smell as I did before. (Clump and Seal is the best I have found for trapping in smells. I have a very sensitive sense of smell and 12 cats!) I noticed that some of the bags of litter are dustier than others.

I ordered one box of arm and hammer clump n seal easy slide. See how it goes. I was happy with dr elsey so many years but quality has gotten gone down. You guys have any suggestion on urine clump sticking like a cement on the side of litter box. She seems to go on the front corner. I always pool more litter on the corners but still sticks like cement.

I just didn't like Dr. Elsey's when we tried it. I didn't feel like it had good odor control. I also tried Okocat but Delilah wasn't crazy about the pellets and I didn't think it handled odor at all. We both seem to be satisfied with Worlds' Best. It seems good on the odor, dust isn't an issue for us, and I can lift the bags myself.

I've been trying sifting litter liners (I use a litter liner regardless) and I'm not 100% sold on needing to sift the full litter. When the sifting liners run out I don't think I'll buy them again. I'd rather scoop daily and change the litter every 2 to 3 weeks.

Odor control is very good with Dr Elsey. But then again, I scoop several times a day, and clean her box once a month and air dry under the sun all day. I've noticed smaller box traps more odor than bigger box. Even though we have one cat, we got the biggest box and fill it with at least 4 inches of litter. The issue is urine ball sticking to side of box like cement and dust. We did not have this issue in the past with Dr. Elsey though. I've heard corn litter attracts insects. So anyone heard of that. That was the most common complaint on chewy.com one star reviews.

I have found the exact same problem with Dr Elseys.. I have been using it since 2012!

I tried Boxie Cat.... nope.... finer and seems dustier...

My litter set up and issues seem to be the same as yours. Geoffrey does one corner for pee, another corner, diagonally across from the pee for poop....

Yes, I heard the same about Corn litter... I tried it with my last guy. I found it had a funky smell...and was so lightweight that Artie kicked it out..
Geoffrey is bigger than Artie, kicking so much... all over the litter mat...

I think I tried the Clump and Seal once.. I tossed it. I noticed Geoffrey was getting the litter on his nose, and licking it off....
And it was like Cement trying to get it out of the corners of the box.. worse than Dr E's...

Good luck... I will be interested in what you find...

Ever Clean is very dusty. That’s why I switched to Dr. E 10 years ago and been happy until now. Have you guys tried Dr E red bag. I get the blue bag and wonder red bag is different formula.

Been using the Dr. E since I adopted my cat. Haven't noticed any dust, but of course I don't have anything to compare it to.

The red bag, if memory serves, is for "problem cats" who don't like to use the litter box. I have no opinion on it outside of the fact that it worked when Sassy had an "I only want to poop outside" phase. Didn't seem any more or less dusty, fragrant, etc.

I can't speak to the possibility of corn litter attracting insects, but I'll share with you what my vet advised. He recommended that I not use World's Best or other corn-based litters because of the possibility of aflatoxin fungus. I know people swear by World's Best but the possibility scared my away from it.

I use a clumping grass litter (and so does my vet), and I know others here on TCS like walnut litter. The grass litter isn't dusty, but it does track, particularly if you have a long-haired kitty with lots of toe floof. It clumps well and controls odor well (although I scoop constantly so odor isn't an issue for me). It takes awhile for the cats to get used to it. It's so soft they sink in it which freaks them out. I mixed clay and grass gradually over several weeks to get them used to the grass litter.

I’ve been using a new litter about 6 months and just love it. Great odor control It has little specks of charcoal in it And the pee turns into a hard ball This stuff is worth a try Tidy cats Naturally Strong It comes in lemongrass scent and unscented Chewy has the best price and it comes in bags that are lighter and easier to lift Everywhere els I’ve seen it sells the plastic containers Dr Elseys is a great brand I feed their dry food and both my cats love it Good luck in your search.

I've found using a mix of cheap clumping clay litter and walnut litter cuts down on the dust from both. I only use the Naturally Fresh Multicat walnut litter. I accidentally got a bag of their regular litter one time and discovered it's so finely ground that it's nothing but dust.

My cat has pillow foot so I prefer natural, unscented litter. The Okocat soft version (not pellets) works for me! Odor control works pretty well, it clumps and since it’s wood…no insect issues like corn litter. The texture is similar to clay litter, so transition was easy. Word of warning, it does track very easily, but perhaps not more than any clay litter. I used to use Tidy Cat and that got everywhere too and made a chalky mess. This is just wood flakes. What has helped more than anything are those ulitity house rugs.

Dr. Elsey’s is having some product quality issues because of the pandemic. I’ve tried Tidy Cats Naturally Strong (stinks and tracks way too much). Arm and Hammer Slide (overpriced, inconsistent quality, sticks to the bottom, and stinks up the house really really bad). I tried Everclean unscented and it masks the odor SO well and doesn’t stick to the bottom of the litter pan. Only negative is it is dusty but most clay litters are anyways. Just put about 2 itches and you are fine. It clumps fairly good and doesn’t leave a lot of small pieces behind like A&H slide. It’s the best clay litter imo.

I may try Everclean, dust doesn’t bother me. I just put Naturally Fresh in this morning to try. I have been using dr Elsey’s sensitive paw but not too happy with it. I don’t feel it clumps consistently but it’s one of the better ones I’ve used. I also used Worlds Best and it is AWFUL! It’s supposed to clump but it crumble and is such a mess to clean.
