Born in Brooklyn NY
Currently living in northern(ish) New Jersey, not too far from NYC.
My great-great-great grandfather was from northern NJ, before he moved to WNY to take up the 100 acres of land awarded him for his service in the Revolutionary War. That happened in 1796, but I imagine there are still some relatives in that area, however distant they may be.

Have been living in Germany for ever, but born at a "Stately Home" near Oxford, England (it was WW2 and the rich and beautiful had to give up part of their space for poor pregnant women from bombed out London!). Grew up in SE London; my children were born in Yorkshire and Staffordshire (now called West Midlands), and then we moved to Jülich in Germany. Not an exciting place but Aachen (Aix la Chapelle), Düsseldorf and Cologne are less than an hour's drive away, and, if you want to get out of Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium are just as close by. It's a train ride to Brussels, Paris, Amsterdam and travelling back to the UK was (at least until Brexit) easy both by car and train. I never thought I may have to give up my UK passport but.....that's life!

It's nice in town, but out in the country sucks!
Different perspective here!

I adore NYC. Have worked there for decades and there's nothing like it. It's my heart.

However, the outer areas/countryside of NY State are gorgeous and chock full of small towns which are historic, picturesque and worthy of visiting. The Catskills, for instance, may not be full of excitement but have their own charm and are great for family get-aways.

It all depends on where you are. I will admit there are some crummy small cities and towns you couldn't pay me to live in but that's the same anywhere.

Sidenote: Can't wait until the day arrives when Broadway shows are up and running again. We miss this SO much.

I live surrounded by forest. I like the small towns that have a Walmart and restaurants, laundromats, etc. That is 30 minutes away.

i love traveling ... just have to know someone that is there before i can go there
Out of curiosity, why? I've gone plenty of places without knowing anyone and feel like that would limit my travel options.
