HELLO, HELLO and HAPPY SUNDAY!!!!

Can you remember an occasion when you looked so amazing that everyone still remembers it, or you still remember it? What was the occasion? What did you wear, color etc. How was your hair styled? It can be a casual occasion or formal.

I went to a Christmas Eve dinner party in 1980 when I lived in Ft. Lauderdale. It was cold that night, in the 40s. I wore a black silk dress, backless except for about 3 pieces of material holding it together. It had capped sleeves and the hem was trimmed in lavender flowers. I wore no stockings but a pair of black suede shoes and I wore my hair up.. Handel's Messiah was playing on the stereo. The only thing I would have changed was eating inside. We ate on the patio and I was shivering so badly that my bf gave me his jacket to wear.

What about you?

I have always had good and blah days, so when it comes to everyday attire, I can't really think of anything specific...Although I'd like to think I looked great on my wedding day! lol!

I do remember for Halloween, when I was in college, I dressed up as Marilyn Monroe.
I was in Kensington market (Toronto) the year before and found the most gorgeous vintage dress that just oozed old Hollywood Marilyn. It was white with rhinestones around the neckline. A sleek yet flowing gown. And it was only 40 dollars! I bought it knowing that I could dress as Marilyn someday. I styled my already blond hair in her signature style, and it turned out perfect. And of course did my make-up with the sharp eyes and red lips....I seriously looked like a (smaller busted :rolleyes2:) version of her, and I looked stunning!!!!
Everyone commented, even people I didn't know, a couple even asking for a picture.
I know I was dressed up as someone else, but really, it was just a dress and hairstyle that made me into "Marilyn", so "I" still looked like me, so I felt pretty good that I could pull it off.

Probably when my parents brought me home from Catholic Charities at 3 months old in 1956. I never was a person to dress to impress. I grew up most of my life wearing t shirts and blue jeans unless it was Christmas or Easter Mass. We wore the hats, bonnets and gloves back when I was a kid every Sunday to Mass.

The first thought that came to mind was my daughter's wedding. I wore a navy blue sleeveless dress with tiny rhinestones down the front panel of the dress. My son-in-law told me he liked my dress better than his mom's.

Maybe my wedding? 🤪

I just found my prom and homecoming gowns in the attic. DD is almost my height so I was tempted to bring them down to let her try on. She is built completely differently though. I highly doubt they made me memorable. Except maybe my Junior prom. One of my very good; but 3 years older, friends volunteered to do my hair. She'd done it once before and it looked great. The problem was...I'm white and she's black so my hair was NOT cooperating like she was used to working with. So maybe the hair was memorable to my classmates; but I'd rather not ask! My friends also found a crown in my closet that I'd used to play dress up with and made me wear that too. :flail:It did match the dress though. It was a gold metal with crystals. The dress was really pretty; jaquard ivory with a delicate metallic gold design and a small train. It had a small train and the panel was plain ivory. But the hair? I still vividly remember my step-sister's face when she saw it. 🤪

It was a few years back now my eldest had just started dating his now wife. I put a bit of slap on and did my hair because we were all going for a meal. My son's other half actually said omg I can't believe your mum looks so hot. I didn't know if I was flattered or offended  much to my son's amusement who replied yeah she scrubs up well for a old bird doesn't she. That's what I always say;)

One of my best friend's wedding day. I was a bridesmaid and it was a Halloween wedding. I went as Mary Poppins and had my makeup done professionally. I never wear makeup, so it felt nice to feel snazzy for pictures. Here's a picture I took of myself in my car after I had the makeup done (I was parked) and then the full costume with the bride and my sister (also a bridesmaid).

It's a toss-up between my senior prom and the father-daughter dance that year - I wore the same gown to both. It was deep red velvet with a little cream lace trim around the neckline and cuffs, rather medieval in look. It had a detachable cream satin collar which I wore to the father-daughter dance. It was definitely the most gorgeous piece of clothing I ever had, and I would have worn it as a wedding dress if we'd gotten married in the winter.

I don't think so - I gave my eldest niece my old photo albums and some family heirlooms when she visited in February.

I know I posted some here years ago, but a search shows the photos from those "prom threads" didn't survive the transition to a different platform.

ETA: I did find one of my "Soph Hop" gown - sort of a "Heidi look". :lol:

he'd wear almost nothing but gray with the occasional black shirt.
Sounds like me! I only like to wear brown, gray, navy, black, tan, olive, light blue. No bright colors!

My high school graduation pics were probably the best pics I have ever taken. They let me change clothes and I did several different poses.
