What would you dry off with though? It sounds soggy.
Just a washcloth, because you're already clean it shouldn't need washing too often.

I have a bidet so don't really need TP, but I never have gotten into using a rag to dry instead. This might be a good time to make that leap.

I know a guy who, when asked what he likes most about modern civilization, one of the top 3 on his list is TP :D. We Americans just don't like the idea of anything else.

I don't know what Amazon's policy is on that. I've seen really inflated prices before (so inflated you think it must be a typo), and they didn't seem to do anything. But if it's against their policies, yeah, report it. They won't know unless someone tells them about it.
Asking a ridiculous price isn't illegal. Price gouging, like taking advantage of an emergency situation to ask for a ridiculous price, is. Amazon has canceled the accounts of sellers they have deemed to have engaged in price gouging. It isn't always clear cut if a given price constitutes price gouging though.

It's probably based on an algorithm for that products and similar for the past 90 days. My guess would be that because some people have listed items at crazy prices during normal times it's not catching everything.

Canada has closed its borders.

Trudeau closes Canada border to non-citizens

TORONTO (AP) — Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said Monday he will close the country's border to anyone not a citizen or a permanent resident amid the coronavirus pandemic.
NOT INCLUDING THE US, at this time. (as per below except from above article link)

"Trudeau said his government based its decisions on science and public health recommendations ,but said Americans would exempted despite cases surging in the U.S.:

The governor of Maryland said today that all restaurants here must close on the inside and only have carryout and delivery service.

My sister who delivers bread with my B/L to stores said that the stores had longer lines today than any other day. I have bad digestive issues and only have 10 rolls of Bounty, 4 rolls of TP and 3 boxes of kleenex. I doubt if they will last me two weeks. I am not able to drive or stand in long lines to buy TP.

My sister also said that they were the only ones that had bread. The shelves were all empty because the trucks from PA never came. She said everyone cheered when they showed up with bread.

We only have enough toilet paper for maybe 2 weeks. Do you think they will restock soon?
Yes.

What are we supposed to use?
I haven't read anything about "supposed to"s, but unless there is a valid scientific reason not to, I am personally going to continue right on doing what I was doing before I found my hidden wealth of Toilet Paper in the very back of a closet I rarely open.

You can probably use a search engine such as Duck Duck Go or any other to find information about family cloth and DIY bidets. Some posters here might find graphic instructions upsetting or off topic, but the only problem I have personally found with either of these solutions to what is intended to be an interim solution to a temporary problem is seriously that once you switch, you don't want to go back.

And that really isn't an option in the good ol' US of A unless you never want to use public toilets or the toilets at your friends' houses again in your life. :flail:

The places I've checked online were all out of stock.
eBay had joke listings the last time I checked as well as a very, very few listings of single rolls or six packs that I would have sucked it up and bought if I cared as much about TP as I do about pet meds. The sellers looked like they were genuinely trying to ration it to those in greatest need instead of maximizing their profits.

This thing changes so fast I can't keep up any more than anyone else, but human nature isn't all bad. I was a homeless teenager in 1979 and I'm still alive today.

Omg, I am diehard for our electric bidets. It also saves so much money on toilet paper.

It is, in some ways, too late today. My veterinarian is taking tech appointments so my fur baby has an appointment on schedule for her injection.

I have not yet started asking low-risk people if they could pick her carrier, with her inside of it, up off of my front porch, santize to their own satisfaction, and return said carrier to my front porch, knock, and walk away. This is an embarassing thing to ask and most of you have already done so.

When we learn from our mistakes, it is normal to want others to learn from our words so that they don't make the same mistakes all over again. I think they call it "reinventing the wheel".

Yep, and they're getting pretty cheap too. They used to cost $600-$800 (when I first starting looking into getting one) and now you can get a nice bells-and-whistles heated one for under $200 and an unheated one for much cheaper (brr!)(I think I've seen as low as $30). And they're easy enough for most people to install themselves. I fully recommend them to anyone who can afford one.

Haha, I was going to link to one on Amazon but apparently everybody else had the same idea so now there are only overpriced 3rd-party sellers available.

Well a friend of mine was asked to pay $200 shipping fee (here in the states for delivery of an item before April 15th) so I doubt that Amazon will do anything about sellers price gouging. My friend deleted the item and deactivated her Amazon account because of it.

We love our bidet toilet seat! We bought one a couple of years ago. Installation was a snap, it saves on TP and feels like a luxury every time we use it. Only problem is that now we are all spoiled.

Did she try reporting it? I think that is a big part of how Amazon is finding out about these.

I certainly wouldn't have deactivated my account over that.

Yes, did you see the paragraph before that, about the disease that the fictional book said happened in 2010? If Dean Koontz is some kind of prophet, you'd think he would have been right about both of them. And The Simpsons writers are prophets too.

Also worth mentioning that when he wrote the book, the main disease was named Gorki-400 and was only changed to Wuhan-400 in 1989, because they didn't think people would understand the Soviet Union reference.
Aha!!! My copy definitely says the disease is called Gorki-400. That's why I didn't make any connections.

Everyone SHOULD be ready, this has been going on since December. The government has been saying for weeks to stock up enough of everything you need for two weeks. The problem I noticed when I went to do my own stocking up is that people are either taking advantage of this crisis and buying to resell, or are panicking and buying WAY too much. Someone in line was buying two hundred rolls of toilet paper!!?? Come on, this is ridiculous! there should be limits on how much to buy, and I'm sure there will be. I noticed in my own Walmart yesterday the laundry, toilet paper, milk, OTC flu medications, and cat litter aisle were empty. They were OK two days before that. Another problem is we don't think of many things we actually do need, like pet medications, until it is almost too late. this is teaching us all a very good lesson1 Thanks W Willow's Mom for the heads up!
The stocking up on water and TP is so ridiculous to me. Like of all things during a pandemic, and these two items seem to be the leading panic purchases.

This isn’t a hurricane. You will survive off tap water if necessary (and if you’re concerned, then just buy a Britta filter or similar), and there are a multitude of ways to compensate for lack of TP that while very unfamiliar, are only slightly more inconvenient (cloth, homemade douche-like device made out of a water bottle, literally just jumping in the shower to clean up and disinfecting when finished, etc).

I can’t believe how many people actually opted to pay dozens for packs of TP rather than simply purchasing a single electric bidet for $25-30 instead. Again, it’s not a hurricane, a bidet is a pretty apt solution here and you don’t have to use it forever if you don’t want to. But having one would certainly assuage concerns over TP shortage.

Either way over $600 for a copy of the book is ludicrous. Whether prophetic or not. I have told Amazon about this last week as have others and they have not done a thing so they are not doing everything they have said they would. When you provide links to them and they see with their eyes and don't do a thing then yes they are allowing price gouging.
