It's already the end of July! Where is summer going!? We only have a few weeks before school starts here and suddenly I just want time to slow down a bit. :bawling: But it's late Sunday night and that means I'm working up our menu for the week and my grocery order. Tacos have become a staple here because everyone eats them without complaint. ;)

So tacos! Yay or nay? What do you put on your tacos? Crunchy or soft shells? No shell? What meat do you prefer? Or do you prefer meatless?

Normally I make beef tacos in soft tortillas with lettuce, tomato, pinto beans, shredded cheese (monterey jack, cheddar or a blend of some sort) and plain Greek yogurt. Oh and taco sauce. I like to use a lower sodium taco seasoning. It's always hard not to over-stuff the tortilla. :paperbag:

I will also use ground turkey or make them from chicken occasionally too. DH has been eating his more like a taco salad with tortilla chips and sometimes I do that also. He adds diced avocado when we have that too. :yummy:

Ooh, I love homemade tacos, but hardly ever have them. Too much work for one person.

I like a softshell spread with refried beans and a hard shell put inside it (like a Taco John's Taco Bravo). Shredded chicken, simmered with Old El Paso taco seasoning; I don't like ground meat in a taco. Lettuce, diced tomatoes, shredded cheddar, black olives, and sour cream (or Greek yogurt---it's tangier) for toppings.

Yummmmmmm.

I like the crisp shells, but they are too messy to eat, so I use flat shells or tostadas. Then cooked hamburger with Old El Paso seasoning, shredded cheese, sliced lettuce, and if I have it, sour cream. And top it all off with taco sauce.

I like all tacos. Love TBell. Hard or soft shell, I prefer chicken but also like ground beef. Cheese, tomatoes, taco sauce, and hot peppers.

I'm not a big fan of tacos. Oh, we'll have them from time to time, but not that often. I prefer a taco salad, same ingredients, but I don't bite into it and have the whole thing fall apart. Lettuce, chopped tomatoes, ground beef with seasonings, and sauce or, more often, salsa instead of sauce. I'll crumble a hard shell, put that on the plate, add the other stuff and dig in.

Oh.....no sour cream. It's a good way to completely ruin a taco.

I've never tried one. Sounds like I'm missing out.
Burger King has them for 1 dollar..yes it's like eating a taco salad. Meat. Lettuce. Tomatoes and salsa on crunchy shell. The meat is seasoned but not spicy.

Me, I like them on crunchy shell ONLY. Meat and all veggies and zippy salsa. Sour cream is a must. Yum yum.

Looks like hitting taco bell after work for theyr 12 tacos for 15 bucks. It's going to be 90 for 3 days..perfect hot weather food.

I haven't tried the BK ones but they seem to be going for the Jack in the Box version rather than the Taco Bell one. JITB tacos are so good. I doubt BK is causing them any sleepless nights. The reviews I have seen for BK tacos were mostly meh. I like TB but I wish we had a JITB. Let's see how long BK keeps them around. IMO BK does one thing well. The whopper.

I've never seen the soft shells sold here, so we use the crispy ones with ground beef, lettuce, chopped tomatoes, grated cheese and salsa.
"Soft shells" are just a plain ol' flour tortilla. Like a burrito.

I forgot salsa! I prefer salsa or pico de gallo to taco sauce. Medium hot.

I make homemade tacos, but it is a toss-up as to what I like best.

Actual tacos: Typically, they are softshell, but I also make hardshell using flour tortillas in my fryer. I just do not do that very often, even though I like the fried shells better. My family and I prefer chicken tacos. I use Adobo, Sazon, extra cumin, paprika, harissa, Tabasco, salt, and pepper as seasoning. With the chicken, I saute onions and peppers. We like black beans the best with tacos. I used canned and add some harissa. We also liked to add roasted corn seasoned with salt and pepper. I like kind of plain guacamole: Just slightly chunky avocado, salt, a wee bit of cilantro, and lime. A little cheese, lettuce, and some sour cream top it off.

Taco bowls: Either chicken or shrimp with all the stuff listed above but separated out on top of rice so that it looks pretty.

i really like tacos -- in soft 'shells', over tortilla chips, and 'taco salad'. i'm not into crunchy taco shells, because they break apart so easily while eating them. :dunno:

i like my tacos with ground meat (ground beef, ground turkey, or ground chicken -- cooked with taco seasoning), shredded lettuce, chopped tomato, cheese shred (pretty much, whatever i have at the time), and salsa.
