Good morning!

I was watching a really funny video the other day with Kitten Lady and Jackson Galaxy. They were talking about the songs they sing to their cats and dogs.

So glad I'm not the only one!

Do you sing to your cats? What do you sing?

Hiro gets the Brave Sir Hiro song. Monty Python fans will probably know this one.

Brave Sir Hiro ran away.
He bravely, bravely ran away.
When danger reared it's ugly head.
He bravely turned his tail and fled.

(I wish Hiro would run away rather than trying to do battle with every foe he meets. :cringe:)

Mia gets her own song, to the tune of The Flintstones.

Minxie, Minxie Princess.
She's a pretty little Minxie Me.
She's the Minxie Mia.
She's as Minxie as a minx can be.

Lots of the others have their own songs too, but maybe I've humiliated myself enough for now.

I'm not the only one, am I? Share your cat songs here.

I just cannot share the song I made up over 20 years ago, way too embarrassing, but I do sing With or Without You by U2 and put Vincie in place of "you". That's our song. I sing Walking on Sunshine and change it to Walking with "Big Cal". There are a few others that I'll post later.

Nora, now you have ME singing the Minxie song, :flail::musicnote::musicnote:

We sing to ours cats (mostly my husband), but we don't sing specific songs really.
Most of the time it's just using an existing tune and adding in our own words that describe what's going on at the time. Kinda like the songs in the Toy Story movies, where the guy is just describing the movie. Or we just talk to them in a "sing song" voice. I often catch my husband making up songs on the spot to the tune he just heard on the TV from either a commercial or the theme song from a show.

Blister in the sun by the violent femmes is the song I sing to Genna. In the chorus there’s a line “big hands I know your the one” and Genna has only one polydactyl paw.
Skidamarinky do is sung for Slinky I just change the skidamariky to slinkamarkiny.
And for Domino of course I sing Van Morrison’s song Domino.
I also sing silly made up songs for all the cats.

When BooBoo was still alive, he wanted me to Bounce with him. What is The Bounce? Well, when I would get out of the shower, he'd be sitting on the toilet. I'd dry off, put my undies and t-shirt on, and, by that time, he was ready. I'd pick him up we'd walk around the house with him hanging over my left shoulder. And I'd Bounce with him. Singing

Mama's BooBoo man
Mama's BooBoo man
Mama's BooBoo, Mama's BooBoo
Mama's BooBoo maaaaan!

We'd do that for a good 10-15 minutes. He'd be purring away and playing with my wet hair. Then I'd take him back to the bedroom and he'd jump on the bed, curl up and take a nap. But if he didn't think we Bounced enough, then he'd run right back to the bathroom and we'd have to do it again. To this day, I miss Bouncing with Boo.

When Mollipop was still at the vet hospital as a wee little kitten, too young for me to bring home, I'd go to the hospital 2-3 times a week to visit with her. So that we'd get to know each other. I had no clue what her name was and was trying to call her Bastet. No way was that girl a Bastet. Nope, nope, nope. One night I had come home from visiting with my so-not-a-Bastet baby girl and I was doing laundry. As I carried a basket of laundry to the basement, I started singing, "Lollipop, lollipop, oh lolly-lolly pop" only, for some reason, it came out, "Mollipop, Mollipop, oh Molli-Molli pop!". I stopped dead right then and there. "Oh my gosh! She's Mollipop!" Called the vet right away and said, "Her name is Mollipop!"

And now, when I pick her up or we do basement tours (she loves "touring" the basement), I always sing, "Mollipop, Mollipop, oh Molli-Molli pop!" to The Most Divine Miss M.

Not crazy original since it's actually a common social media thing, but I do the "If you are happy and you know it sing meow" song. Example vid:

I've been blessed with kitties that respond  so now I can do it to the poor muchnkins almost daily as it can be addicting.

Other then that I simply just go in a lyrical way "It's Tippy Toes the Boogie Nose!" or "Tippy Toes the Poly Toes!" Whenever Tippy Toes walks into the room. I have other mini jingles for the others too.

Yes I can be incredibly gushy.....

I don't sing to my current cats, but I sang certain songs to my late cat Willie quite a bit. The two I sang most frequently were both by Elvis. "Have I Told You Lately That I Love You" and "I Can't Help Falling in Love With You." I sang them both to her a lot in the days before she died.

I sing the children's song "How Much Do I Love You?" by Hi-5 to Lelia.

I also sing other songs and just change the lyrics to include her name. She seems to like that.

Singing creeps Willow out. But my previous cat had a song that she loved. I started singing it to her when she was a restless screaming kitten and needed to suck my thumb while I walked her and sang to her until she fell asleep. (Yes, she was a high maintenance kitten)

Anyway, the song was “Pretty Baby”

“Everybody loves a baby
That's why I'm in love with you
Pretty baby, pretty baby
And I'd like to be your sister
Brother, dad and mother too
Pretty baby, pretty baby
Pretty baby of mine.

As an adult if I sang this song Murphy would just break into a thunderous purr and start kneading.

Being Welsh I sing "whats new pussycat" by Tom Jones.
Oh dear, have I just admitted to that.
I’m not Welsh, but I’ve sung that many times to my cats! And “You Are My Sunshine” which dates to the ‘30s. And countless made up nonsense songs. My cats are used to it and are probably rolling their eyes and snickering behind my back. To my face, they sit quietly and look appreciative. Of course. :)

I sing, "Hey, kitties. Babies, I got your yummies. Don't you worry" to the tune of "Got Your Money" by Ol' Dirty Bastard when I give them their treats in the morning and at night.

I also have a special song for my cat Fennimore. It is really just his name repeated three times in a sing-song way with the "more" extended during the last repetition. I am not sure what started the song to just him (there are eight other cats!), but he gets really excited when I sing it. If someone else sings it, he ignores them.

If I was to 'sing' to our cats, they would either attempt to break down the door to escape, or cause me serious bodily harm, as I could not carry a tune in a washtub.
