Orijen isn't exactly the gold standard of food it was either after they made changes to their product and business that I can only imagine are profit driven.

Besides, if Chewy was only interested in profit like that statement says, then they would not refund like they do, would not send out flowers and gifts, etc. They seem to operate under the motto of, "take care of the customer and the customer will take care of you."

I think Orijen was way too quick to jump ship. It didn't punish Chewy, it punished their loyal customers. I'm glad they did in a way because it made me do more research into different foods and I feel I found better alternatives. I've not had worse service or selection from Chewy since the acquisition.

One acquisition that I feel definitely went South was Petco and Drs Foster and Smith. I used to get majority of my bird and reptile products there as they had a great selection and reasonable prices. Well late last year they completely discontinued hundreds of products and eliminated the reptile section among others. Their customer service is awful now too. Very disappointing, but for me reminded me that the Chewy situation never felt like a huge shift occurred.

I really like Dr. Elsey's Clean Protein and Wysong Epigen 90. I also think Young Again is promising but it is not on Chewy.
I second the nomination for Dr. Elsey's. The girls used to eat Orijen but started refusing it. They love Dr. Elsey's chicken.

To be clear, I use Orijen for my dogs...you just recommended cat food. I agree their cat food is as bad as any other dry food (which is why I noted that I use Savage Cat - not available on Chewy - and Feline Nutrition - too expensive on Chewy).

I don't have a dog so don't have a suggestion for cat food. My original post that you quoted I just was making commentary on Orijen in general. Wysong Epigen 90 is also a dog food though.

Haha yeah, the needs of the dog are different than a cat. I stay away from dry completely for my cats :)

I know :) I only use about a tbsp a day and hopefully only temporarily. We lost my senior cat recently and my other cat is eating very little while she grieves so the few high calorie bites she is eating a day of dry is preventing her from losing too much weight

~ I believe it was a customer service person at Chewy that told me the people who started/run the Company are all the same. Apparently Petsmart is smart enough to leave things as they are. If that should change we could all be in for disappointment. :redcat:

I've noticed a few changes at Chewy since the acquisition, but none of them have, so far at least, been a real issue. They charge sales tax nation wide (since they now have a nexus in any state with a petco), produce a line of food or two that they push pretty hard on the site, and they now will ask if you want to donate or ship items back, but they continue to offer low shipping prices/free ship minimums, and excellent customer service, as well as a broad selection.

And Dr Elsey's salmon kibble is the best cat treat in the universe... Not only is it nutritious (it is nutritionally complete, unlike actual treats, so I don't need to worry about giving too much), and quite cheap on a per ttreat/pound basis, but my cat absolutely loves it. Their chicken kibble is also very well loved.

Any state with a PetSmart ;) they have no affiliation with Petco.

I have also never been asked to return something. Only give it away or donate it. However it's all been food so maybe the return shipping on that is simply too cost prohibitive

My picky girl does not care for Dr. Elsey's dry sadly :( She loves Wysong Epigen 90 though!

Them be fighting words. Chewy is AMAZING. For some reason, my area has the WORST delivery people . They always damage boxes. I don't even have to ASK for replacements or refunds.
I merely let them know how each shipment goes and they handle any problems.
Are you sure you don't work for Petco? Just kidding, but in a world of bad offshore customer service, Chewy is stellar.
And great for those of us who are disabled.

???? I don't see anything on their site that's out of the ordinary.

If you don't order at least $49, yeah, shipping is a thing. But that's not ever a problem for me. . .;)

And $4.95 flat rate isn't bad.
IMHO, Amazon has better prices, especially on shipping.... free on orders over $35,and many, many items offer free shipping anyway, regardless of order total.

Like a lot of people have already noted Chewy's customer service is just amazing. A lot of the time you don't even have to ask for a refund, they read the reviews and if you weren't happy with something they will often come to you and offer a refund, and the price doesn't seem to matter either. I've been offered a refund on everything from a $4 Cat toy that none of my Cats played with to a $50 drinking fountain that splashed all over my floor on anything but the lowest setting that barely had any flow.

The free shipping for orders of $50 or more is also nice, my parents get the Nature's Variety Instinct Chicken for their Cat and order a month's supply at a time on autoship, it's a lot easier for them than having to drive to a pet store plus it's not always in stock locally.

Such as?
What do brands do you find to have better prices on Amazon?
And many, many sellers of cat food cans on Amazon are top notch scammers.
There's a well known scam that Amazon never takes care of where creeps list 1 3oz can for 24.99 and trick people into thinking they're getting a case.
Or scammers are apparently relabeling cheap cat food as higher priced brands.
The times when I've needed amazon same day and ended up with complete garbage is laughable.
And most of the things I order off of Chewy aren't on Amazon OR they are insanely overpriced.
Cat litter off of amazon would cost me 3X as much.
Also TIKI cat. Either way overpriced on Amazon, limited selection or sold by people selling old merch.
Lotus, amazing cat food. Not sold on Amazon.
Merrick, cheaper on Chewy a ughness.JPG jerkoffsd.JPG nd fresh.
On Amazon I have received busted, old cans half the time. I use Amazon Prime all the time, but for cat supplies I know I am rolling the dice as to what condition I receive food in.
I just got done dealing with such a bad mess up by amazon that their executive office sent me a gift card.
And that's ONLY after spending a lot of time on twitter griping.

This sort of thing is why when I order from vendors like Amazon, Newegg, etc. I ONLY order items directly sold by the vendor, if it's a third party using their platform I avoid it like the plague. Way too easy for scammers to set up and sell some cheap garbage that's mislabeled, broken, or just the wrong item. They don't care if they get shut down because they can just start again with a new name.

Really because every time I even look for the canned foods I want to feed my cats the prices are crazy expensive on amazon. And their free shipping on $35 is slow shipping... I don’t have price. But amazon is far from cheap. Everyone seems he be obsessed with amazon. However I find better deals elsewhere. So I hardly shop there. But I do compare prices.
