Hi All... I am so late with this.. @micknsnicks2mom asked me to do this for her today...

sorry about the lateness.. it has been a crazy day..

Here goes:
Question of the Day:

Have you ever 'lost' your cat, in your own house/apartment...Not outdoors, but inside the apartment??

Here is my answer, and you will know why I am so late with this.

YES!!! Right now, Geoffrey has been missing over hover 2 hours!! I cannot find him anywhere.

And YES for Artie also.. I could not find him for over 2 hours, because I had locked him in my closet!! He snuck in while I was putting clothes away..

G is another matter.. I spooked him, by turning mattress, he took off like a bat out of all heck; and I have yet to find him.

I have 2 closet doors open, and the closet where the washer/dryer/water tank is..

I climbed on top of the washer, the dryer, to look behind it with a flashlight.. I also looked as best I could, underneath on the sides of the water tank...Looked under bed-- no holes for him to be hiding in the lining.. moved the couch, the other 2 chairs.. took flashlight, on my hands and knees in both closets, behind furniture, on top of cabinets, behind refrigerator.. no where to be found.. dam

I put out some stinky Fancy Feast in the kitchen, one in the extra bedroom, and another near my storage room, when the washer, dryer, water tank is...

This cat is just too scared of everything.

I hope he is not stuck some where.. his voice is so soft, I do not think I could hear him.. sigh...

Yes, I have! I lost Hannah once and it scared the you-know-what out of me. She isn't microchipped like the others so if she accidentally got outside, she wouldn't be able to get back in through the SureFlap door, and she's never been outside before except on a harness.

I frantically searched EVERYWHERE, every nook and cranny, upstairs, downstairs, basement, calling her, shaking the treat box. Nothing.

Then all of a sudden, up pops her little head from a couch. I'd laid a rolled up rug across one of the couches when I was moving or cleaning something and she'd made herself a little cave under there and just went to sleep, I guess. I must have walked right by her ten times and didn't see her there.

I hope you find Geoffrey soon!

Finally... about 3.5 hours after he disappeared, Geoffrey came out of my bedroom!!!

The little "turd" must have been hiding somewhere in my closet...

Honestly, I was close to tears, because he was 'lost'... so sensitive, so easily frightened, yet you can see he is very loving and wanting love...

little turd....

Anyone else????? I know there has to be others....

Yes, I lost the Vincie girl a few weeks ago. I thought she was outside and since she is deaf I cannot call her. I was so scared. It was dusk so I used the flashlight and the motion lights. Pain levels were high that day so I came back in for a break.

All of a sudden I heard her little sweet chirping sound. She had been sleeping on the chair inside the entire time but the blanket is navy blue and she is black so I didn't see her.

I was so relieved and kissed her about 50 times. :hearthrob::blackcat::redheartpump:

My cats often disappear, but shaking a container of treats usually brings them running. I always reward them then too, so they keep coming! their favorite hiding place, which I'm sure they'll change now since I found it, was curling up behind a huge potted plant I have in the sunroom, I looked for a long time before resorting to treats on that one! They also crawl up on a dining room chair in the back, up inside the mattress through a hole they ripped in the bottom, and under the recliners and couch in the living room through the back. Once I found my big Dutch (16 lbs) under the night stand in the bedroom, squeezing under a space that doesn't even look like it would admit a kitten! ???

In the kitchen
Mollipop has a hidey-hole that I've never been able to find. She's eight years old now and she will just....disappear. I'll call and call her and then, suddenly, she's at my feet, saying, "What? What do you want?" She's had this hole every since she came to us as a wee kitten. I have no idea where it is. She's also gotten caught in the lazy Susan in the kitchen. And the bathroom closet. She likes to explore and, sometimes, she does get caught. But I can always hear her meowing.

Fortunately all our cats know their names and they will respond. Eventually. If I keep calling, they'll come. I do a head-count before I ever leave the house, just to make sure that cats (and Beast) are accounted for. And since they're so good at coming when I call, I always give them a treat. That way, they associate me calling with somebody good.

No, I never lost any of my 8 cats in the house. Sometimes one of them would get shut up in the basement but when I could not find them I knew where they were.

Not my current two. My previous cat hid under a bed one time when the front door and entryway door were wide open because Dad was helping new tenants move in upstairs. I was frantically looking inside and outside for my cat. I finally found him under my brother's bed behind a pile of stuff.

Yes! Few years ago...

It was in the evening I was looking around for Morgana. It took a couple of hours and of course I was going bonkers! Wondering if she got out, got stuck somewhere etc etc

Keep in mind that she is deaf, so it's not like I can easily call out to her or shake something - best I can do is knock on things. Reason why also wears a bell on her collar.

Long story short, well into the hours of around 1 something am in the morning since I refused to go to bed without finding her, she was under a floorboard  It was a little loose so she must of lifted it up. There are small heated water pipes underneath so she must have been attracted to the warmth and had a little nap down there.

Suffice to say I was relieved and that floorboard as been more properly secured  Thanks, my naughty little boogaloo.

I'm constantly "losing" Mowgli, as we have a lot of dark furniture that his black fur blends in with. His favorite time to disappear is when I'm ready to leave for work in the morning, too. He gets in weird spots, like way back on top of a tall bookcase, and my husband swears Mowgli just wants to watch me frantically searching for him. That might be.

Jamie, our last cat, vanished into thin air the first day we got him. At ten weeks, he was small enough to squeeze between the radiator and wall. We tore the house apart before he came popping out again, all thrilled with himself. Another time he got inside a duvet cover - under the duvet, of course, so I didn't see the lump.

Last Friday I couldn't find one of the feline boarders at the shelter. After searching his room three times, I finally found Sammie lying absolutely flat on the floor underneath a cat bed.

Well the little turkey, is hidden, again!! No closets open , this time.

He does not trust me. He runs away from me! Yet, he curled up in bed, as soon as the lights were out. And proceeded to try getting me up an 4am. And then after 5am.

His litter box needed scooping and he was hungry.

Now when I want to play--he does not.

Wish I could find his hiding spot.

Carleton doesn't miss a beat when I open my bedroom closet. For some reason he thinks it's a personal challenge to hide in there so if I can't find him that's the first place I look. We are extremely careful to know where he is when we leave the house but one time I couldn't find him and he wasn't in the bedroom closet so I got worried. Turns out he was hiding in the half-bathroom. I put some shopping bags in there and it must have peeked his interest.

Honeybee on my lap, music playing in background
Honeybee has a hidey hole to this day I can't find her. Jon thinks she's stuffing herself under his bureau. There's a 4 inch opening and he thinks she squishes herself under the lip of it. He's got stuff piled up infront of it so I can't see underneath as the opening is only on the sides. She goes under the bed then slips along the wall between her cat tower we use as an end table with a piece of board across the top for lamp and telephone. So every now and then we can't find her. She loves to squeeze in small areas. And won't respond to treats or anything!

Yes, both my cats hide down cellar sometimes and I have no idea where. There's a lot of clutter down there. Sometimes it really scares me when they won't come out, but thankfully they always do eventually.

I lost Moxie overnight when she was a kitten. I was taking a lot of stuff to the thrift store, and I had a sofa cover on the table. I bundled it up and shoved it in a garbage bag and put it in the car. And then I couldn't find Moxie anywhere! After calling and shaking the treat container for a few hours I was pretty sure she had gotten out and been eaten by an owl or something (she was pretty small, but she still came when I rattled that treat container!). But then the next morning I got in the car and guess who was waiting for me? And there was a hole in the garbage bag that the sofa cover was in. She must have been hiding in the sofa cover when I bundled it up. It all worked out for the best but it gave me a very stressful night!

Back in the ‘80s, I had a small, black, long-haired kitty named Teddy Bear. I don’t think she ever reached seven pounds. One day she was playing in one of those plastic grocery store bags and got the handle wrapped around her middle. So when she walked away, it followed her, rustling and billowing. The more she tried to get away, the more noise it made. She was terrified and raced around the house with me in pursuit. She flew up the stairs, peeing as she went, ran into a bedroom and jammed herself into a too-narrow space behind a dresser, pushing so hard she actually scraped fur from the sides of her face. It was horrible.

I got her out, gently released her from the bag, and she bolted from the room and completely disappeared. I looked for her for hours. I felt like the worst cat mom in the world.

After five or six hours of searching, I was in the kitchen, glanced down, and saw her pushing her way out of a tiny space where the cabinets met at right angles. There was a narrow slit where the baseboard trim didn’t meet at the corners, and in her terror and desperation, she had pushed through the opening. She was so pitiful, and I was a wreck.

After that, I always cut through those handles and then threw the bags away. I also cut through all of the loops in those plastic rings that hold six- or eight-packs of soft drinks together. And every time I moved, I checked the right angles along the baseboard to make sure there were no spots for cats to squeeze through!

Teddy lived to be almost 20, but she was always scared when she heard the rustling of a plastic bag.

Yes - Toffee and Fudge are very scared and skittish of strangers, and bury themselves in the gaps behind it. Before I realised where there hiding place was, I was very distressed as I thought I'd lost them. However, a couple of hours later, they both came out of the back of the sofa safe and sound!

I've had that happen a few times. After ripping the house apart looking for him he suddenly appears behind me. I have no idea where he was hiding or why he didn't make any noise when I was calling him. Usually he will meow if I call him but once in awhile it's total silence.

Cocoa went missing twice since we had her in the house. Both times for nearly the entire day. The first time was when we first got her. Finally found her cowering behind a radiator where she was clearly terrified and had peed herself. Second time, my husband had inadvertently left the attic door open and she wandered up there and apparently must have decided to nap the day away. We had a feeling she was there but she wasn't answering us or the sound of food cans opening and we began to fear she had actually gotten out. I was totally beside myself, crying blah blah etc. Hours later I saw our other cat looking up the stairs quizzically and then I saw her come down like nothing was happening which for her, it wasn't.
