I too am tired of this hot humid weather but the cats don't mind it. Theres some shrubs out back that Pumpkin Face sleeps under. Yesterday she was out there all day. The ground is in the shade so it felt cool to the touch. I imagine a cool ground to lay on is refreshing on a hot humid day. I need to get some photos of her snoozing.

Last night made a greek pasta salad to stay cool for the next few days. It's got tons of feta cheese and two types of olives. Green stuffed with garlic and cheese then black medium sized. Jon is happy with it so thats my positive that we have some food he likes because he's a fussy eater. And the perfect food to eat when it's in the 90s hazy hot and humid.

For those who love peaches, give this recipe a try. It's one of the only things I make that qualifies as impressive, but it's so simple.

Cut peaches in half & also cut a bit off the round end so it won't wobble.
Brush both sides with olive oil or flavored olive oil of your choice
Grill peaches for a few minutes on each side
Serve on bed of arugula with goat cheese, salt & pepper & balsamic reduction

Yummy!!

Speaking of food, my positive is that I've been hunting and found a new cereal I like, sort of. It's a better crunchy snack than mushy in milk unfortunately.

Another positive is how much I like the sound of lawnmowers in summer. Something about that sound, summertime, and a nice looking yard after...:)

After catching up on this thread, I can easily see that my pawsitive right now is that it is MUCH cooler temperature-wise where I live than it seems to be for some of you! It's been in my ideal temp range of 60-75 degrees for a few weeks now.
:woohoo:
PushPurrCatPaws PushPurrCatPaws - Things have finally cooled down a bit here, and wow, are the cats happy! We slipped down past 65º early this morning, and the nineties seem to be past for now.

R raysmyheart - We're fast approaching local fruit season - a double-edged sword for me, since I've been eating fresh, ice cold pineapple for the past week, and it becomes addictive, but the local berries are incredibly sweet this year with our higher-than-normal Summer temperatures, and since my Friend across the road has been blitz-irrigating, his strawberries are more than half the size of California Sparkles, and deep red nearly to the center!

Blueberries here this years are big, bright bird magnets, but I've managed to rescue a few nonetheless. One road over, the Gooseberries and (red) Raspberries are ready to head out to the roadside, and we're probably just two weeks away from the first peaches along Lake Ontario's shore. Best way to get there? Take the canoe up the river seven tenths of a mile and turn right at Lake Ontario. Pass the sand beach at Olcott, and the peach trees will magically appear on your right, about 1000 feet up the shoreline. Don't forget to take your own basket!

Yes - you can get there by car as well, but why would you?

Ottawa had record setting temperatures on the weekend. Thankfully Karen, the kitties and I were out of the city with a nice breeze to cool us off.

Made the rest of the flowers at our place pop out while we were gone.

There is a flea market near the spot we get drinking water for the cottage. I was there in the spring with Karen and told the woman we want cat figurines. I went there a few weekends ago with my father in-law and sure enough she had some cat figurines that I purchased. Karen and I stopped in there on Saturday and she recognized Karen as the cat lover. She then proceeded to look at me with cat figurines in my hands and you could see it in her face "Oh, you are the cat lover."

I got a beautiful set of beige iridescent cats, kitty salt & pepper shakers as well as the following.

I left the woman my cell number and email address. She is on the lookout for an approximately 15 inch tall black cat :)

Most positive for me is that I am enjoying the hot, sunny weather we are having here in the northeast United States, I wait for this all year long! I don't know why I love this weather so much, it is the weather that makes me feel at my best! It is currently 93F / 33C here and we might have some thundershowers later in the day. The humidity is 50% which I don't mind with the open blue sky, it would be a little hard to take with a cloud cover, I do admit.:) All that being said, it is important to take precautions if you either love or don't care for this weather, because the heat can quickly sneak up on you and make you weak.

foxxycat foxxycat , Honeybee and Pumpkin take the best photos, of course, they are just so pretty anyway!

1CatOverTheLine 1CatOverTheLine , to be near all those orchards and fruit growing fields is Heavenly for sure! Summer fruit season is the best!

Did I hear you say Gooseberries? Well, thank you! It reminds me that this season is short and I must get to my local and wonderful farmstand, now in full swing, to get these treasures. Ken and Lisa do some Gooseberries, Redcurrants and Groundcherries each year and they do go very quickly each day of their season!

@MoochNNoodles , the vegetables you are harvesting sound wonderful and the zucchini are my favorite. For my zucchini pasta, of course.

All the wonderful posts here are very uplifting.

Lots of PAWSitives here! Oh yes, I know hoecakes. Slide some greens in next to 'em and you've really got somethin'. :yummy:
Love all the summer fruits, too. It's one of the very few things about the season that's PAWSitive IMHO. Enjoying my favorite -- Bing cherries -- right now and also have some nectarines, though sadly, not from our garden. I'm with you on the pineapple, 1CatOverTheLine 1CatOverTheLine -- refreshing for summer! and I have kiwis, bananas, a canteloupe, grapefruit...all so good! We had a little peach tree here in the back yard, but it was half dead then and it's long since passed on. The nectarine is in its place, or close to it.
And Shane Kent Shane Kent -- glad you enjoyed a respite from the heat and aren't those beautiful cats! I have some of that type, too -- so detailed and realistic! Hope you find your perfect black cat figurine soon. So nice to see other cat figurine collectors.

Vintage Siamese pair, my mom's pride and joy, ca. 1940s-1950s I think.

@HellsBells80 , nothing beats seeing our cats having fun with their toys, I am so glad your kitty is feeling better!

Shane Kent Shane Kent , belated 25th Anniversary Best Wishes to yourself and Karen!

ileen ileen , I do love the great frames you made with shells you have collected. They are so pretty! I am also a shell-seeker when I visit the shore!

The weather has been hot here and on the way home from work Sunday, the sun was a beautiful ball of orange setting over the field. The photo does not quite capture all the brilliance, but you can see it was a pretty end to a hot day! 20180701_195913-1.jpg

I'm with you on the pineapple, 1CatOverTheLine 1CatOverTheLine -- refreshing for summer!
tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 - I'll bet you know my hot weather pineapple secret too - a half hour before you want them, put the pieces right in the freezer. They'll be icy cold, and more refreshing than any sugary soft drink or ice cream - unless you leave them too long, in which case, be sure to have your dentist on speed dial.

Shane Kent Shane Kent - gorgeous Lilies - I can almost smell their fragrance over the InnerTubes!

R raysmyheart - Yep - the season for Gooseberries is as short as it is for black and red currants, so know your local produce stand or you'll be out of luck.

A SuperPawsitive for the non-vegans: I haz teh bacons! An old Friend here in the towns began smoking his own bacon about ten years ago, and some of the combinations he's tried have been superb, but this year tops everything. One of the (many) local maple syrup producers still clings to the old ways, and sells what was once called "Grade C" - an incredibly dark, rich syrup that's kinda like eating a maple tree. Kyle - Mister Smoker - managed to get his hands on a large enough quantity to cook it down into Grade C maple sugar, and used it instead of brown sugar to cure his cold-smoked-three-times applewood / cherrywood / hickory bacon.

Kyle stopped today while I was trimming around the trees up front, and had ten pounds with him. Trust me - if you had children, you would sell them for a few pounds of this bacon. Trust me.

LOL
oh, oops, drooled on the keyboard, dang....

So here's another fun and interesting sunset, a male goldfinch in the Enterprise apple tree, and some photos that a lady at The Cat Care Society shared with me.

Santa Fe the cat had been living in their buildings' hallway for a couple years, (I believe they own their building. I'm not sure why Santa Fe the cat was there, exactly, but he was apparently content and it worked...). They were beginning to wonder if anyone would ever adopt him.

Three weeks ago, joy for everyone!!

1CatOverTheLine 1CatOverTheLine -- I didn't! But I think BANANAS would be great that way, too. :yummy::banana2:
Furballsmom Furballsmom TYSM for sharing those gorgeous pix of two very happy and prosPURRous creamsicles being sweet together! Makes my day :yess: knowing Santa Fe has the kind of life he (and every cat) deserves!
PushPurrCatPaws PushPurrCatPaws That's great! Always a PAWSitive when they are well. Hope she gets a special treat or two for that. ;)

Furballsmom-- Don't keep us in such suspense, what was the name of this great cereal? I had some Peanut Butter Captain Crunch today that was pretty good.
Foxxy-- Best pics yet of Honeybee & Pumpkin Face. Demi would love to be chased by Bee. Your Greek Pasta Salad sounds delicious, glad Jon enjoyed it.
1CatOverTheLine-- Well I live near Ontario and we have a canoe. But it's Cornwall, Ontario, might be too far to row for fruit. :eek2:
My positive today is that my brother sent me a care package! I'm not sure why people are always sending me care packages, but I'll take it! Haven't opened it yet, that will be tomorrow's positive! :)

I may have to try this next, it sounds good!
LOL, Nature Valley Baked Oat Bites. They're nice and crunchy 'til the milk hits 'em…
Yay for brothers
My positive is that I got BOTH SIDES groomed today! Usually, which is to say just about every time, I get only one side of Mr Big Kitty, and then have to remember which side that was so I can brush the other side next opportunity.

Today, he was done with me grooming his right side and rolled over, so I took total advantage of him. Bless his little heart, he let me :cool2: :cloud9:

M maggiedemi -- peanut butter ANYTHING has my name on it. :yummy: Rowing for fruit does sound like a worthy effort, though. And as far as care packages go, as a "weight deprived" person, I've always enjoyed the attention of people wanting to feed me because I guess they think I'm starving. Not a care package, but close to it.
And Furballsmom Furballsmom -- Oh, I'm glad to see I'm not the only "one-sider" here! Over the years I've talked with a lot of cats, asking them why they only want to look well-groomed on one side. And then there are those who run from the brush. I call them "Three-Stroke Cats". :sigh::flail: The PAWSitive? They do have to stand up or switch sides SOMETIME. And the runners have to stand, sit, or lay still sometime. And when they do...:petcat:

LOL, I know, right?!?

My positive for this post is that there was a lovely rain last night so that the veggies and flowers didn't require any hand watering today :redcat:
Oh, how I love when that happens! Here in la-la land, it doesn't happen anywhere near often enough. But every time it does is a PAWSitive occasion! as it is for you.

1CatOverTheLine 1CatOverTheLine That bacon sounds like a work of art. Yum, yum, yummy:)

tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 I really like the Siamese pair. I enjoy finding pairs or in the case of Chrome and Brass Kitty, ones that match well. When I find the perfect black cat it will then be onward to find a ginger to match them. Might as well have all three primary colors:) Well, I guess really the two colors and white.

There is no way Karen will let me keep all the figurines I have bought. She likes some of them but she won't let me keep all of them. Some of them I paid a bit for but most were very reasonably priced. For a few dollars I will gladly buy them for the photo value. They won't go in the garbage that is for sure, I will try and find homes and likely mail some off.

Iridescent Kitties, and I guess they are more of a cream than a beige. The photo doesn't convey the iridescence well.

OMC the Salt & Pepper Phone-Talking Kitties are SO adorable, Shane Kent Shane Kent !
I have an unadorned whitish/iridescent one just like yours, and a matching unadorned black one. They were given to me by my ex's PA.
My gosh, why won't she let you keep them all? They are what curio cabinets, china cabinets and bookshelves were made for!
Some of my favorites were very reasonable and from yard/garage sales. My absolute favorite is a tiny tabby I bought from GoodWill for 50c. I have several fine ones, too, including an original sculpture and a reproduction. I think my mom's Siamese kind of fall into that CATegory, because they are vintage, quite large, and I'm sure there aren't many of them existing. They are quite dramatic and very beautiful, aren't they?
IMG_2913.JPG

The sculpture, along with a lot of Bastet and Sekhmet figures and a glass cat from a friend.

Shane Kent Shane Kent - You'd get along well with Kyle. Worked in the lumber woods all his Life; doesn't say much, but throws himself into aything he tries with abandon. He told me today that he's going to start curing and smoking his own ham steaks because he found a hand-written recipe in a 1906 Adirondack Guide Book.

I'd love to send you some of the bacon, but I'm sure there are rules and regulations about shipping food between countries - and even if there aren't regulations, forget it!

;)

I went out this morning intending to do a little trimming, then decided to mow one small area, and ended doing the whole doggone thing in short order since the heat pretty well stopped things from getting out of hand. Now it's all done, and the cooler weather means that I can spend the next few days just lounging around as if I were an old retired guy. Pretty nice!
