good morning!! :wave3:

for today's Question of the Day, let's talk about our interests......

What interests you, that you like to read about (books, magazines, and/or at websites), watch tv shows/documentaries about, and/or do? (of course, we all love cats, and TCS! :redheartpump:)

i'll start!

yup, i absolutely adore cats, and love to learn more about them! :happycat: i read the daily pet articles at mercola dot com too.

i'm really interested in WWII, so i read, watch documentaries, and will search the internet for more information about it. :agree:

i read and watch documentaries about spies/espionage, which ties in to my interest in WWII.

i also enjoy taking on 'projects', especially home improvement related. i love to watch home improvement/renovation programs on tv, and enjoy browsing and reading articles at home design/renovation/decorating websites.

i love baking, and enjoy cooking! :hearthrob: i do a lot of internet searching, looking for particular recipes as well as new and interesting ones.

i don't read magazines...:dunno: .

okay, now it's your turn!

Besides cats, I'm interested in science and history. The history of technology is especially fascinating, even if I don't know how it all works :p

I like animals. I like reading about the kinds of pets thay I have and watching Animal Planet and Nat Geo Wild. I can spend hours in a pet store browsing the pet food and toys.

My other interest would be video games. I like mostly Nintendo games like Zelda, Pokemon, and Mario. Im also a fan of the classics and arcade games. But then I also have an xbox that I use to play Asassins Creed and Monster Hunter World (which is coming to the switch! Yay!) I follow YouTube channels about video games and I used to get Nintendo Power magazine.

Subject wise I'm most interested in linguistics (I'm studying English Linguistics at university in September), especially child language acquisition. I'm also interested in history; mostly the Holocaust (particularly Anne Frank) and WWII but also Tudor England and the Civil Rights Movement in America.
Other things I have an interest in are royalty, photography as well as East Asian cultures; especially Japan and Korea (anime and Korean pop included).
I've also always had a large interest in Judaism; and whilst I'm Christian I've always found Jewish religion and culture fascinating.

I really enjoy psychology (it's my major in school) and the medical field (also my major). I spend a lot of time reading up on things like autoimmune disease and heart conditions in particular. I'm a huge history buff too, so I love learning and watching the documentaries over periods of time where big change happened (60's, WWI & II, Russian Revolution, American revolution, etc.).

I'm a big gamer though, too, so I really like spending my time playing video games on a huge variety of consoles (Xbox one, Switch, Gamecube, 3DS, PC).

Right now I'm watching The Handmaid's Tale, rewatching Game of Thrones with one of my roommates (her first time watching) and Big Brother.

I don't read literature or books much. I had it shoved down my throat growing up in school to the point that I don't enjoy reading on my own anymore really. I personally believe that while some writers clearly are specifically thinking about the way they word things, placement of stuff and the visuals of the words, not all authors have that in mind. Not everything has incredible meaning to it when it comes to literature in my opinion.

Obviously I love cats! I enjoy learning more about them, different breeds, behaviour and health and such.

I also enjoy crafts, I like to upcycle old furniture and picture frames, I also buy the deep box frames and make my own pictures with photographs and embellishments.

I don't watch much television but what I do watch is usually health or wildlife documentaries. Also game of thrones I love it:D

I do love music though, and I listen to a fairly wide range, soft rock, pop, metal, ballads, bit of country, and Elvis.:musicnote::dazzler:

I love learning about any and all animals, extant or extinct. I try to keep up with various kinds of biology-related news, new studies, research, etc. Reading has always been one of my favorite things to do but I rarely have time to do it anymore. I keep buying books though and I probably have 15-20 unread books on my bookshelf.

I love cats and flowers.
I enjoy spending time in nature- walking, hiking, picnicking, nature photography, etc.
I love to read, I'm currently hooked on the Warriors series by Erin Hunter.
I mostly like older TV shows from the 70s and 80s; some of my favorites are Miami Vice, Magnum PI, and Starsky and Hutch.
I also really enjoy cooking and baking.

I don't have much time for a lot of reading and watching movies or news, BUT...
my interests would be, should I ever have that time to pursue my interests.....

Early movie industry, and life of early stars all the way up to the forties is what I'm most interested in

I would like to learn and read about the printing industry/business near 1905-1925, especially, and up through the present

I have an online National newspaper subscription that I wish I could read thoroughly, but I have time constraints. I decided on the subscription as I gave up cable tv because of expense and opted for a newspaper which is the next best thing. I wish I had all the time in the world to read up on current world affairs

I would love to study the spoken word and speech and communications therapy but that would be just reading on-line at this point in Life, also I always wanted to read up on the spoken word in The United States, then through now

I have some books ready to read and started on my nook on the subject of the westward expansion in the United States

My career was retail and I would like to read up on the building of the department stores in the early 1900s. I read the book Mr. Selfridge and saw the series, but would like to put it on my nook to read again and read up on early retail.

I would like to learn more about birds and plants in a casual way but that I would like to read online

I like to casually read about farming, mainly online and I used to love the paper subscriptions of Farm & Ranch Living and Reminisce, both magazines. I did give up the subscriptions because I have little free time with working and all, but they were great

I use youtube a lot to watch movies and listen to music

Of course, I love to read TheCatSite.com daily.

I am really enjoying reading all the posts here of what others enjoy!

Farming, ranching, animal husbandry for ALL things, self sufficiency and living off the land as well as general health of animals in general and how we can work to improve this.
On a whim I watched a short video on cleaning your house/business and purging old crap you no longer need. (it was filmed in a country other than the USA), and it was done in such a way I was inspired and spent the next 2 weeks cleaning this place, and kind of inspired our last-winters cleaning spree during a weather-induced shut down. It was wonderful and I truly loved every second of it.
Also, I LOVE any docu that is able to portray the developmentally disabled in a good light, a light that shows they're human beings with emotions and feelings and stuff.
Sometimes I secretly think the "new" way of doing stuff absolutely sucks (I have had a smart phone for like 10 years and can barely turn the damn thing on) but in cases like this, YES, progress is GOOD.
I also love space stuff, anything related to outer space and planets and what those planets would be like to visit. I never really outgrew that space-obsessed kid I was =D
Also...anything that takes a really great movie or book, and picks it apart to the bare bones. Film and book analysis is something I could do forever and some videos and websites are simply awesome at this and very thought provoking!
Also...anything funny. I LOVE to laugh and things that are silly, funny, and cute just make me crack up. The problem is I usually find my mind wandering to these ridiculous things at the most inappropriate times, so when someone is telling me about how their car broke down I start laughing hysterically and borderline pee my pants because I'm thinking of a funny cat video I was on you tube.

My stack of "to read books" keeps growing.
The extinct animals fascinate me because all we have are drawings or very old, grainy looking photos and I always have wondered what they would have been like, today, if they survived.
(Also, I call one of my cats "dodo bird". I know, that's terrible!)

I like documentaries about Ancient Romans or Ancient Egypt. Space, architecture, some travel and nature ones too. I like documentaries on tv better than reading just because the visuals these days are so fantastic. Even if the narration isn't. ;)

If I'm going to read; I go for things on Space, Plants and Gardening. Some bird resources for "backyard birding."

I like to cook. :paperbag: :paperbag: I love reading cookbooks, I love trying out new recipes, I love watching cooking shows that show me how to do something. No Chopped or competitions or anything like that (other than the Great British Baking Show), but cooking shows that help me learn a new technique or learn why I have to do something in a certain way. I feel almost embarrassed to say that I enjoy cooking and baking because it seems that it's something that many people just don't do much of anymore. My DIL doesn't cook that much, my sister won't cook unless she has to, many of our friends don't cook anymore because they're retired and don't see the need. They go out to dinner every night instead.

I love to read books about gardening. We haven't had a vegetable garden now in a couple of years, but I still like reading about gardening, houseplants, and flowerbeds. I enjoy looking at pictures of pretty lawns, flowerbeds and gardens and thinking, "Geez, I wish my yard looked like that!" :)

I watch documentaries about space, about our planets, about other solar systems; I find the whole thing to be very intriguing. The comet that killed the dinosaurs, the iridium layer in our earth, all of the past extinctions, our ancient cultures. All very interesting to me.

to this day, i don't care for reading books on a time limit. :headshake: that's what i did in school, and i really didn't enjoy it. i either didn't particularly enjoy the book itself, or i really enjoyed it very much. so it ended up that i had to read a certain amount each day, or (if i really enjoyed the book) i couldn't read more than what was assigned -- because only what was assigned to be read was to be discussed/quizzed in class. i never enjoy reading books from the library, for this reason.
