This is what it will look like, please show how big the plant is now, I pruned mine severely as it got to be too big, many blossoms last year, will see how it will turn out after the pruning.

Hey, what happened? The pic was crossed out!
segelkatt segelkatt I hope you have good luck after the pruning, I think maybe it will be very pretty this year? :purplebutterfly: I do not have much luck with indoor plantings. Please let us know how it turns out.

tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 , I have never heard this version by Tuck and Patti, only the original score of "You Can't Take That Away From Me" but I am glad that you posted it for me.:)

Today before work I see it is absolutely beautiful out - a crystal blue sky. It helps me prepare my mind for the major upcoming snowstorm here in the NorthEast United States. It will snow from 7 am tomorrow morning until Thursday evening. The snow accumulations are predicted to be quite varied throughout Massachusetts, but I will gladly not complain of getting very high snowfall if it means others here in the state can get a break this time after they were hit so hard during the last storm. I am crossing my fingers they will get low totals.:crossfingers:

R raysmyheart (and @foxxycat too - and anyone else in the path of the storm) - Keep a close watch on the weather patterns where you are, and don't travel unnecessarily.

Here, the storm shouldn't have any effect, as I'm a couple of hundred miles too far west to see any real snowfall - and that's pawsitive enough for now!

Here is the picture of the orchid cactus (cereus) that got crossed out earlier, this is life-size, not enlarged. It grows on my glass-enclosed patio which faces east-south-east.View attachment 221549
*SO beautiful! Wow. What a PAWSitive sight and thank you for sharing it with all of us!*

Here you can see just how big this plant got in about 3 years. At the bottom of the picture you see several buds. Since each flower lasts only 2 or 3 days having buds that open at different times makes the show a little longer than if they all opened at the same time. Last year it had about 20 flowers over its blooming period which is usually in May.

segelkatt segelkatt -- thank you for sharing that with us. What a spectacularly beautiful plant! It must be a joy to have. *Love all of your windchimes, too. I have quite a few, but only a couple on my front verandah now because several of the others have broken. My favorite one that is still up is a gorgeous oxidized copper one with a cat and flower design.*

Another snowstorm is headed our way tomorrow. I think there are some people in Westchester still without power from last week's Nor'easter. The pawsitive is chances are my office will be closed tomorrow so I can work from home and spend more time with my kitty. I'm bringing my laptop home just in case. Sunday evening we had a little photo session in the hallway. He loves looking down between the handrail slats to the floors below.

Hi all! That flower posted above is wonderful!!
And, I found not just one penny on the sidewalk but FIVE in my wandering errand running today, I thought that was pretty terrific.
Plus, I learned three things feline related on this site yesterday; at the next dental cleaning, an anesthetic to be sure to tell the vet to not use since it's for dogs (!), a baby food "soup" that I've just got to try not so much for getting more moisture into him but as a treat :yess:, and a super inexpensive litter and wet food I'm trying out on the Big Guy

My pawsitive news is weather related - we dodged the snow mix that was predicted overnight, just a dusting on the grass today. The temperatures are supposed to take a dive but I'll take that over a Nor'easter any day. Be safe all of our East Coast members, thinking of you. :grouphug:

Another piece of good news - two doors down from us, there's a husky that, for a couple of weird, mostly unknown reasons was being kept in a small pen in back of a shed so she couldn't even see the house, never mind be part of the family.
For the past couple of months she's been having the run of the back yard hallelujah!!! SOMEbody must have finally told them that having the big dog in the tiny pen and letting the Chihuahua's have the backyard all to themselves was REALLY backwards.
She's such a joy to watch, it lifts my heart to see her - I think she has springs for legs because she floats up the steps to their deck (our fence slats are spaced a couple inches apart so we can see into each other's yards...)

segelkatt segelkatt - Wow that flower is very impressive, almost like something out of an alien science fiction movie. I like alien science fiction movies :)

IMG_2033.JPG

I don't know much about flowers but my wife knows more and loves taking photos of them, this being one of hers. I rob her photo stash on a regular basis but have yet to find her dragon fly photos. She has a few dragon fly photos and the color is equal to that of a flower. Mother Nature and all her beauties and at the same time crazy snow storms, hope everyone is doing well. I will have to remember to show her the picture of your flower that is out of this world beautiful.

Delightful! To return home and see the beautiful posts here and the great stories! After work, it was so nice weatherwise that I took a short ride after work to scenic areas near my home.:tree::tree: All within an hour, but I have come to the realization that my life is not getting any longer, and I really need to take a break and look at the beautiful things around me. :daisy: Last summer I did some of this on Sunday evenings, my favorite evening to go for a ride after work and I have made the decision to go to scenic areas:evergreen: near me (with my new nook camera) on Sunday eves going forth in the Spring and Summer:purplebutterfly: to come. I always desired to travel when I was young, but realize that traveling closeby now is what I need to do.
After work today - over our scenic mall where I work -

tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 - I am still at work. To think, a year ago Kitty and Rusty would be here with me but instead they are waiting at home for me. I rather like that they are waiting at home for me and will always, and forever, have a special place in my heart for you and @ondine and many, many other people on this site. I am still at work because I was putting tape and paper down in the boardroom as I have to paint the trim and quarter round that I cut on the weekend as well as the boxes I built around the structural beams for the building. I reeeeealllllly love my life right now. I love the opportunity to use my hands and not always be glued to a desk. I love that I have lots of great friends, 1CatOverTheLine 1CatOverTheLine , mama africa mama africa , R raysmyheart , and @everyone on this beautiful site as well as all my friends at work.

Have a great night (or I guess day for some) everybody:)

Shane Kent Shane Kent - What a wonderful memory - Kitty and Rusty - once without an home - and now with a place of Love and safety and warmth forever.

It looks like you've found an home as well, Shane - right here on TCS - and I doubt there's even a single person here who isn't glad that you did. Your photos and positive attitude have enriched every one of us - and so have enriched TCS as an whole as well.

Back into the 40s here tomorrow; for those further east, keep your heads down and your cats warm! Summer's just around the corner. Well, okay... maybe around the corner and up the street past the gas station and then around the next corner - but it's coming!

this is a relative of the cereus, it's the flower of the Dragon Fruit, also known as Pitaya in Mexico and Cuba where it is native but is now grown mainly in the tropical Asian countries like Thailand and Vietnam, I have one growing in my garden. Here the flower is only half open. The second picture shows it all open and the third one shows the fruit which is edible with the dried-up flowers hanging from the end of the fruit. The plant itself is ugly as it is a cactus that will grow all over the place, 7 ft tall and just as wide. Amazing that such an ugly plant can produce such a beautiful flower and then edible fruit too. Two out of three ain't bad, huh? and thus pawsitive.

Shane Kent Shane Kent , I have very happy tears in my eyes and am very blessed and grateful that you call us Friend. I do remember when Kitty and Rusty were at your work, but now they are friends with Pooh Bear! The reality of their fur-ever home is as beautiful as all of your posts! Now all this is very paw-sitive because your friendship to everyone shines through here, all the time.

segelkatt segelkatt , I have always seen the dragon fruit in the exotic fruit section of the produce department, but would never have thought that the flower could be so beautiful! The photos are wonderful!

I paw-sitively told Speedy that we will be doing a lot of snuggling in tomorrow's storm. Wishes for everyone's safety being sent from Marianne and Speedy.

As a husky mom, I'm so happy that girl is finally getting to run, but I'm sad it sounds like they don't appreciate her enough to let her be part of the family. Huskies need to run, walk, and explore, and their ideal lifestyle is very different from a chihuahua, I'd imagine. Even though they can have an independent streak, they're also very loyal to their partners in crime exploration! They're also pretty graceful, as it seems you've noticed! I'm grateful every day for the love of my pup, as well as the cats! :petcat:

Today a kind customer gave me a Starbucks card in appreciation for my assistance. She's my absolute favorite customer - always upbeat and PAWsitive no matter what life throws at her (which is more than I can say for most of our clientele.). It was so sweet to see that the appreciation goes both ways! :hearthrob:

Shane Kent Shane Kent - It's a great honour to be your friend. You don't send many posts, but when you do, you always choose the right words, and most of the time they go straight to the heart.
Your pictures of Mother Nature are often breathtaking and those of your kitties endearing.
But most of all, I appreciate your pawsitivity and your big heart.

My positive is that I got out to do a few hours gardening today. Now that the snow has gone I can see there is a ton of work that needs doing. I had time to clear all the dead branches from the ground and murder a few baby thorn trees before they got too big. Sorry thorn trees, but you really do have lethal spikes.

I have lots of plans for the enclosure this year. Can't wait to get started on them.
