When I woke up, Lelia made sure to let me know about the danger outside (aka the rain). She sat by the window that was open a crack and kept trying to bat at the screen.

I'm so lucky to have such a good guard cat. :petcat:

I've heard tell of the famous tortitude that ladies with these markings can have. Honestly, though my little Lucy was a bit sassy in her kittenhood, I am constantly in awe at her absolute sweetness. I'm so lucky to have such a great friend! Here she is cuddling me this am.

tinydestroyer tinydestroyer - This is a great shot of Lucy; what a positively stunning girl she is!

@jcat - I don't know nothin' 'bout no Beast From The East, but after weeks of near-Summer weather here, it appears that we're going to have a single day of Winter (The Brevemente Occurrente ab Occidente, perhaps?) beginning early this evening, with a fair-sized snowfall, before we return to Springlike conditions once more. I wonder if there's a speed record for Snowman-Building?

For now, the day's fine and bright, and there's no sense wasting it indoors!

I love animals and I admire people who dedicate their lives to rescue animals in need.

That's why I couldn't resist to share this pawsitive story about Anthony Caere, a (Belgian) pilot, working in Virunga National park (DR Congo), who saved this baby chimpanzee - MUSSA - after his mother was killed by poachers.

WARNING: It will melt your heart...

mama africa mama africa - Beautiful photos, and your two girls are just beauties!

tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 - Robert is/was gorgeous. He's not front and center here, so it's hard to make him out. Although he seems a little on the slender side, he's a Buff Orpington, no?

R raysmyheart - Don't worry about the zoom lens; this photo makes me wish I were right there!

Still near fifty degrees here tonight, and the new weekly forecast shows seven days of unseasonably warm weather coming up. Come on, Mother Nature - I'd Love to see Lilacs three weeks early!
.
I had to look that up, 1CatOverTheLine 1CatOverTheLine and from the pix I saw, I don't think so. Robert was a tall rooster with iridescent green/black tail feathers and accents. He and some of his ladies met a very bad end from canids up in the Mojave. That's not a story for the PAWSitive threads. The PAWSitive is that we "inherited" Robert, T.O.G. ("The Other Guy") and their ladies from the folks who had the house built originally; they all had very good lives with their own barn stall, henhouse, and yard, and most passed due to old age. Robert and some of his ladies didn't. The remaining 4 hens went to a neighbor who also raised chickens as friends, right before we moved. It was incredible getting to care for the flock and getting to know their individual personalities.

Mondo and I saw a couple of ducks on our rainy morning walk today. They seemed to be buddies (or mates,) and one was orange / tan while the other was black and white. I didn't get a great photo (they weren't too jazzed about my dog ;),) but for all you bird-lovers, here they are!

I am so excited, after looking high and low for a cat tree for Carleton we finally decided on one and bought it today.
I don't think Carleton was as enthusiastic as we were but I'm hoping when he hears the birds and sees the squirrels tomorrow morning he'll chatter away.

Looking very much forward to pix of gorgeously handsome CARLETON in his new tree, enjoying the "wildlife" outside and maybe even a video of him "chittering" at it! I could listen to them doing that all day long, couldn't you?

Weather-wise, it was a stunning day today. After dinner, however, my dear old Peanut gave me a bit of a scare, bumping into the wall a couple of times. Pupils dilated and non-reactive made me run through all the possibilities in my head, but after a nap, he was himself again, and showed no physical signs whatsoever. Sometimes a quick Prayer gets a quick answer.

The Monster Storm has been raging for a couple of hours now, but as sometimes happens here, the chasm through which the Niagara River flows has produced enough air mass to push the storm apart (so far anyway), skirting the shorelines where it divides Lake Erie from Lake Ontario. So far, nothin' - zip - nada. This is what that old saying - "being in the clear" - really means: :)

So happy to hear that you're in the clear - in more ways than one! Sending :heartshape:to Peanut!

A slow day at work with all the rain means that I can get all didactic with my coworkers about fabrics to keep us all busy. And y'all, I can talk about fabrics all day. :yummy:

It rained most of the day here but during a brief lull, I headed out with camera in hand. The Hellebores are blooming in earnest now. Today, their beautiful flowers wore shimmering drops of water. This started me thinking about Water and after many profound thoughts ;) I ended up being glad it was raining, even if it did cut short my fun for the day.

A very paw-sitive end to the day is seeing the beautiful photos posted here. They are so lovely and interesting.

It is quite mild tonight, 42*F, but in the last hour, the wind is picking up as the storm approaches. Speedy will keep on watch in the window throughout the storm and paw-sitively report to you, that is, if the power does not go out.:)

I was thinking today how I like old movies and I am really longing to see again to The Pirate 1948, Judy Garland and Gene Kelly. It was one of my favorite movies and I really can't wait to see it once more.

1CatOverTheLine 1CatOverTheLine , Peanut is in my prayers. I hope he feels better.

margd margd your pics of the Hellebores blooming are spectacular.

tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 I tried to get a few pics of Carleton in his new cat tree but he wasn't cooperating. Maybe tomorrow.

Alejandra Rico Alejandra Rico Freya has a built-in cat toy with Lutari's tail, doesn't she?

Carleton is by my side sleeping. He waits for me to sit down on the couch at night then snuggles up against me. :catlove:

Popping in to say that I just donated a large bag of quality cat food + a large container to the The Cat Care Society in Denver for the almost 700 posts made in this thread during February :cheerleader:
upload_2018-3-2_10-37-8.png

The total came to just over $80. They didn't have a Paypal donation option but fortunately they did have an Amazon wishlist so that's what I used.

Thank you everyone for posting in this thread!

This is the third charity we donated to so far in 2018. If you have suggestions for other cat charities, please let me know via PM. They need to be a dedicated cat-only shelter or rescue organization with -
  • A no-kill policy
  • Official 501(c)(3) Tax-Exempt Organization status

It was snowing giant clumpy flakes this morning out my window on the 3rd floor, but Luciano wasn't paying attention. I thought it would fascinate him; instead he was waiting for his bird friends who never showed. Meanwhile on ground level it was raining and windy, not a pleasant commute. I bet my kitty is cosy and sleeping on my bed right now. Wish I was too.

It's Friday :bunnydance:

My friend Jeff, a fellow cat lover, brought his new girlfriend to my house last night. She saw the small upholstered chairs, kid crawl tunnels, five foot eleven inch tall cat perch and automated laser toys. She told me I am nuts, she added that it was a good kind of nuts. She is a dog lover and doesn't realize the proper word is crazy :)

Ottawa is back to typical temperatures for this time of year but that is OK because I have to come into work this weekend to paint and do the baseboards in the boardroom. I know working the weekend doesn't seem pawsitive but after a week of doing security and safety paperwork it will be nice to get paid for not sitting at my desk. I think I might get a start on a set of smaller cat perches if I have time.

I hope everyone has a Happy Friday:banana1:

Shane Kent Shane Kent - This is what we got from you Canadians overnight - the scene as I walked out to get the paper:

snowfront.jpg

and the scene in the back yard:

snowback.jpg

Now I see why Mister Trump wants to build a wall! There it was - pouring right down from the north, all night long! You must take it back! We had Spring - we had flowers - we had birds buzzing and bees chirping! I demand that you come and get this snow, and take it back to the Great Frozen North, where it belongs!

;)

The good news - temperatures are warm enough that this should all be gone in very short order, and for a little while, the snowy landscape is absolutely dazzling. A good day to take in the wintry landscape in the woods and along the river's edge.
