when bubbles was barely 1, might of been younger, ran into a fox, of who he killed... he then had to carry the fox over a 6ft fence - no idea how - onto the porch roof (a couple of feet more) and into my room via window.

At the time, I had 2 brothers, who I still have, were kittens - all my boys are related at this point. Buttons came from a different family, but not born yet.

When bubbles brought in the fox, my two kittens at the time decided they wanted to play with it, bubbles still had ahold of the fox, the 2 had a arm or a leg each and pulled, and pulled. It eventually ripped in half. Due to this, it took hours cleaning my room - trust me it gets everywhere lol.

I know it was a fox due to the tail, bubbles had ripped the poor foxes head off. I know bubbles killed it as he had a few cuts from the fox, and the fox was still warm. It was horrible at the time, I couldn't handle blood or anything.

Needless to say all my boys were bathed, vet checked for diseases and injury. The next day, I found the kill site, just outside of my house/property about 5ft away from the fence. To this day, if a fox screams, bubbles will run and chase the fox off.

I was very shocked, the fox was a lot bigger than he was. Bubbles has always been a big cat, he is underweight due to infection, currently weighing 7kg or 15.5lb he should weigh 8kg or nearly 18lb

When I was a kid, one of the neighbor kids told me their cat had killed a fox. It was a neighborhood cat we all knew and loved. . .I never really believed it, I thought he was bragging. But I guess it's possible. I don't know what the cat's motivation is, maybe territory. Foxes only weigh about 15 pounds under all that fluff so they aren't much bigger than cats.

I can't imagine cleaning that up, eww. Poor you!

I think you might have misnamed your cat :insertevillaugh:
What name should we of given him?

I just know he really hates foxes - have no idea why?

We use dog crates to take our cats to the vets, and take them all at the same size, we normally get an hour along appointments - our vets are lovely, a charity due to the fact I can't work due to my autism of which my cats are the ones who act like a guide dog for the blind, sadly I can't take them everywhere.

Due to using a dog cage, my cats normally come out 1 by 1 in a order, starting with our girl cat, she is 3 and weighs 4.5kg/10lb and vet says, oo she's a little big for what she was expecting. Buttons comes out next, weighing 5.5kg and vet says, ah, a big boy. Taffy comes out next and weighs 6.2kg the vet was shocked. Bollo, Taffy litter brother comes out next and he weighs 7kg by this time our vets like okay this is the max size, but then comes bubbles who normally weighs 8-8.5kg... sadly we lost cj in Feb 2016, he was overweight due to my step mum who had cancer couldn't feed him daily so she gave him 10kg of food when she could, due to his boredom he ate, from about 7kg to 11kg. He was our only overweight cat, but our vet when she saw him was so funny.

Edit: I am glad bubbles isn't alone, killing a fox wasn't a flux?

Hound would be cute for a nickname. Or Simba. Not Bubbles. That is almost as bad as Snuggles would be. You can't name the king of the backyard Snuggles lol.

Ah, my sister had a cat called simba, she is a huge lion king fan and has called our girl cat nala lol.

Bubbles is really affectionate, loves cuddling... but he definitely is the boss and tells the others he is every so often. He does give you the "evils" as people put it, especially when they find out he has killed a fox and chases them.

I have googled cat vs foxes and cats look like the same size, more body mass vs longer legs of the fox, so they could give the fox a fair fight or have the upper hand if the cats are big like my boys are

A friend on a farm told me he has seen a ton of fox v. cat fights and never seen one end in death. And certainly the fights you find on youtube all seem to end with one party retreating. Foxes do kill cats, but as far as large cats, you have to wonder how many were actually coyote attacks. I dunno how a cat actually kills a fox...maybe a lucky bite to the jugular, jungle cat style. Of course, it is possible something else killed it since you didn't witness the fight and there wasn't much left for analysis.

As the death scene was just a few feet away, I heard the fox outside, so did bubbles who went to chase it away. I heard a quick fight, and feared the worst, as you would, I started to get dressed to run outside to save my boy, and rush him to the vets if he was still alive before I left my room, I looked outside, on our 6ft fence there bubbles was, looking down at something (now guess that he was pulling the fox up) somehow he must of ripped its head off, I am told it's hard to do...

I guess it is possible that another fox killed it, ripped the head off, as bubbles heard it, as did myself. With bubbles somehow scaring the other fox off, it's my only other thought what could of happened... this all happened in minutes , plus a few more getting bubbles in

Yeah I forgot that part! I doubt even a 20+ pound maine coon could rip a fox head off...maybe not at all, much less in a couple minutes. Cats just don't have that kind of power. I mean, I've seen 10 pound cats rip the heads off mice, and Bubbles is surely a lot stronger than a 10 pounder, but that is quite a difference in scale to a fox. My guess is another wild animal - coyote, stray dog, etc... Not like a Coyote needs a reason to kill a competitor or would necessarily stick around if it wasn't hungry enough to eat a stringy fox. Fox v fox likely wouldn't result in decapitation, but a Coyote is another level. Bubbles is probably still badass, just not *that* badass lol.

I live in the uk, there are only foxes.

If they could rip the fox apart in my room, why not do the same with the head?

I used to have a fox that would come into my yard for the cat food. He was very timid and gave the cats a wide berth. He never tried to harm any of them. I think they were used to seeing a zoo around here, we have squirrels, possums, birds, raccoons, skunks and other cats that show up at feeding time, and we live in town! (there is a wooded park area across the road.) The only animal that ever killed one of my cats was a raccoon.

I am so glad we only have foxes.

I am sorry for your loss.

How can I stop bubbles from chasing foxes?

The foxes are very timid, I really wouldn't worry, except taht Bubbles may get into trouble if he hurts one and it fights back. I will bet just seeing Bubbles coming will scare any fox off!

Yeah. This cat is extremely confident, which shows power which has scared foxes for the past 10 years... well 9 years, he didn't go out until he was 1

Racoons are/can be very aggressive. I've heard if them turning on the dog hunting them and killing the dog. I have no doubt the a raccoon would kill a cat, regardless of size if the cat attacked the raccoon.

Yes. And I do believe that mature male raccoons can weigh up to 55lbs/24kg.
