My youngest cat Mouse, is allergic to fish, chicken, and turkey. So far the only meat she can eat is beef. I live in a smaller town and there are only feed supply stores and they don't sell any novel protein cat foods. I can order online from chewy but the issue I am having is she is particularly fussy about her food. She likes beef very much. I've only found I and love and you wholly cow cat food in beef that doesn't have any chicken, fish or chicken liver in it. It is so very hard to find cat food locally that she can eat. Walmart has been a no go as well. I don't want to buy a whole case of of rabbit cat food if she won't eat it. Does anyone know where I could buy cat food online but by the can or by a six pack instead of a great big case?

I am seriously debating if I should just go ahead and make her raw beef food but an issue I have with that is sourcing calcium from non poultry and non fish sources. :sigh:

Amazon may have some options for you as far as getting a smaller case, I'd look there if you havent already.

I understand your problem, but I've been unable to buy cat food online in any amount smaller than 12 cans.
If I were in your situation with a cat with so many allergies, I'd look into preparing food myself. This way I could be sure that there was nothing else in the food that might be problematic.

When I was keeping my cat on a meat only diet, I had to read labels really, really carefully because so often there were fish additives.

I may have to. The only problem I am having is difficulty finding a calcium source without poultry or fish.

The is also Jet where you can buy either cases Petstuffzoom.com is where you can have single cans shipped to you.

Hound & Gatos is a very good brand.. pork, beef, lamb, rabbit... no fillers in it.. pure and simple food.
And then there is alligator or even bison, or kangaroo.. You can buy a few single cans at Koha foods.. they have the kangaroo.. their customer service is excellent..

Only Natural sells single cans (here) though I'm not sure how many don't have chicken, turkey, or fish ingredients. I see that they do have Wild Calling, which makes a lot of foods with unusual proteins, though some are listed as containing "liver" without any modifier like "chicken" or "beef." There's another site that sells single cans but I can't think of what it's called!

Good luck, it's hard enough to find foods a cat will eat consistently, let alone foods without common ingredients.

If you decide to make your own food, you should check out Dr. Lisa Pierson's site on cat nutrition. She has a section on
home food prep, and I think she also offers phone consultations.

If you buy cases from Chewy, and your kitty does not like the food, you can return for full refund. One of my cats really likes the magic meadow by Wild Calling. It's buffalo and more importantly single source protein.

Wild Calling is the brand that has the strange variety of proteins.
You can get up to 4 samples of food, you have to pay for them, at Koha Pets. They have kangaroo, and others and are grain free..

My guy has IBD, is allergic to chicken, so I have been through a ton of these foods..

OnlyNaturalPets, I think is another source where you can buy individual cans.

As far as Chewy is concerned; Yes, if your cat does not like the food, they usually refund you, and tell you to donate the rest to a shelter. PetSmart recently bought Chewy, so who knows how long that will last. They messed up my last order big time, but eventually cleared it up, and refunded me some...
Also, many of the high end foods are no longer associated with Chewy because of PetSmart. They are boycotting PetSmart. So look at the manufacturer's website to see where you can order them.

sorry, forgot about the fish allergy.. It think that is the only brand that does, except for ZiwiPeak....both are from New Zealand..

There is also Rayne kangaroo, but it is so expensive.

So far, it seems only i and love and you brand in beef and rabbit, is going to our only options in commercial cat food, I can get two cases of the rabbit in 24 can boxes, a bag of lamb treats for her and some food for the other kitties for under $60 from chewy . Some places want $30+ for 12 cans of rabbit based food. :stars:

Is goats milk an alternative for you? Especielly raw goats milk may have some edge. These proteins are wellknown to be milk, milder than in the usual cow milk. Contains also quite some calcium.

Mussel isn't a fish so it may not trigger an allergy. It's worth giving a can of food that contains mussel a try.

There's a thread on where to buy single cans of food: Where to buy single cans online?

I live in a good size city/completely urban area. My local Petco/Petsmart doesn't sell the brands of wet food I need for my cats either. On the beef flavor I went online & chatted with the people that answer questions on Chewy. They assured me that though it was labled only liver it was beef liver not chicken liver in the instinct wet food. They are very helpful :)

Amazon sells the small cans. Natural Balance L.I.D. Limited Ingredient Diets Venison & Green Pea Formula Grain-Free Canned Cat Food <- venison
Instinct by Nature's Variety Grain-Free Beef Formula Canned Cat Food <- Beef flavor

OK I just talked with Chewy (their online staff is awesome) and Natural Balance is currently having issues sourcing their venison. Hence the small can shortage. I think Amazon has it (or they did a couple of weeks ago.) I just bought the big cans and give my a third of a can at the time. I have those lids for wet food cans in both sizes. They can put you on the waiting list and email you when the small cans are in stock.

The venison version will be a no-go for us as it has fish oil in it. :cringe: But I may try the beef kind, it has eggs in it, so I might try giving her an egg before I buy a case to see if it gives her any issue.
