If you've ever had polenta you've pretty much had grits. American biscuits are very similar to sconesI've never had grits or what you call biscuits.
I know there is a slight difference in grind but I think the main difference between polenta and grits is the restaurant. Fine dining restaurants serve polenta, casual restaurants serve grits.
