Seriously! I didn't stop one of my fosters from eating all the placentas and she ate 7 of them. Nastiest poop ever, it was red and disgusting!
Oh gross! We have a pole here on how many kittens she is going to have. Feel free to chime in. The going counts are 3 or 4. I have pics a few posts up. I raise my glass to NOT having 7! LOL

I agree 3-4 maybe 5 tops. Lol I pulled two pregnant cats from the shelter at the same time. The first one had the 7 and then 5 days latter the other had 5. I was drowning in kittens then. :lol3:

I think you are pretty safe, she doesn't look too big like she is going to have 7.

Oh lord! I can't imagine!

I don't think she looks too big, but she is definitely 2x her normal size. I have been able to feel 3 at a time 2 on one side and 1 on the other. I'm just scared to hurt them and not experienced enough to prod around on her bell. She lays on my hand and I'll pit my other on top of her belly that's how I know at least 3.

I never stop mine, they do stop themselves if they've had enough and I'll removed them. Otherwise I leave them to it, it's only natural for them to eat it. And it's going to smell afterwards whether they eat 3 or 7.

I just LOVE the direction that this thread has taken. Really ladies, poop and placentas, that is what we have been reduced to?

To answer an earlier question- I have seen a foster use the litterbox like a fiend prior to going into labor- just like she was, er, making some extra room so I wouldn't be concerned about that. And, stinky pregnancy poops are the norm. Glad I'm not the only one who has had to endure that torment in their bedroom!

Like MM, I don't take placentas away either. If she wants them all that's her choice. Others will say they only let them eat 3-4. I think it's a personal choice (3-4 is probably sufficient nutrient wise but, in the wild she wouldn't have anyone taking them away and wild felines fare just fine in that respect). The more important piece is that you count and make sure there is a placenta for each baby. Sometimes placentas can be retained which can lead to serious health complications later. But, don't worry about that now, just focus on all the other stuff you have coming!

Sorry I haven't been posting much but I assure you I am still following Molli's progress closely. A close family friend passed away (sympathies not needed, he had a good long life) but I am helping a lot with the funeral stuff which is taking me away from here. Keep posting and I'll keep reading!

Right Molli, cross those legs for the next few hours
Lol, if only they could, right? XD

My daughter out of the blue said "Mom, the kittens are coming at 4 in the morning." Don't know where she got that from, kids crack me up! Lol
Lol, if she's right, as least you can put her talent to good use :p

I just realized it's been EIGHT days since you thought she might be ready to give birth! Have you gone insane yet? :lol2:

So, I wanted to answer you all in one post, apparently the first person you quote goes to the bottom, so my replies are backward!

Molli was going crazy this morning, jumping all over everything. She went from the couch, to the coffee table, to the desk chair, to the desk and then the window in a matter of seconds, then almost fell out of the window trying to lick her lady parts! I let her out of the bedroom during the day time as I am all over the house doing chores. Not that there is any way I could loose sight of her, she follows me everywhere!   I just can not believe that type of energy came out of a pregnant cat that is due any time! Now she is happily sleeping on the desk chair, (her daytime spot). I was thinking that she was due between the 17&21st. I can safely say, I'm sure I messed up on her dates. She seems to be healthy and happy, with no distress so this is an ongoing thing that I swear will NEVER stop! When she does go into labor I will start a new post, scrolling through these is going to be a pain when the time finally comes!

Well, insane might not be the word for it. My partner was laughing at me last night when I looked at her and loudly said COMMON!!!! She woke up looked at me, then went right back to sleep. Told him I want to pick her up and just start shaking them out. I think its more like I have gone completely mad, and then some

Too bad she wasnt right. I think by now I would choose 4 in the morning or any time they come! "Come one! Come all! See the 10 year old that can see your future! LMAO

Placentas and pop are nothing new after having three children! Wait until you have your own! LOL It's like talking about everyday life.

She had another small poop early this morning that woke me up with the stench! My partner jumped out of bed gagging, I laid there and laughed.

And now, I read about the nutrients, after I answered MM LOL I actually hope she does eat them, I want her and her babies to be as healthy as possible.

I will not give sympathies but wish him a wonderful journey in the afterlife. It is understandable that you are not around as much. I wish you the best and hope that you are not having a hard time with his passing yourself. I know it can be incredibly draining.

Since I have read up on them eating them I am guessing it is very good nutrients for them.

If they were discarded all the energy that went to growing them would be wasted, plus they would foul the nest.  Eating them is a great strategy on both front - it keeps the mother going for a couple of days when the kittens are getting used to suckling, and it keeps the nest clean - or cleaner.

That is very true. I never thought of it that way. It is a great strategy.

The mad dashing about is yet another sign :)
Ok good! Now we have other signs to go on, as well as I have been watching her belly today and almost see no movement. I can feel them when she is laying down on my hand but it is not near as much as it has been. The day I said I knew what the boiling stage was confuses me as I still say that was their most active day. I never saw them move as much after that day. She is laying on her side right now and I can see movement between her hind legs and she has for sure dropped. My partner is away for the day and night as him and his dad are going to an oyster supper, then he has to be to work at 10:30 in the morning. I won't see him til late Saturday night early Sunday morning as he is a chef at a restaurant that serves alcohol and it will be there busiest day. I have a feeling he might come home to a house full of new kittens :) But then again, who knows! Maybe not. Think I am beyond frustrated now LOL

It is rather funny the symptoms that get described which make it sound like she's close and then nothing. Like most she's just being a brat lol

Surely they will arrive by the weekend

I know! I am so frustrated. I thought she would have had them before now.

I sure hope they do. This I'd getting old :/ My kids come home from school every day asking if she had the kittens yet. Every time they get frustrated when I say no. I think my partner is sick of waiting too.

It's kind of weird if you think about it, like eating your own hand.. O__o

Yeesh! I guess so.

STILL no babies! Ugh! Molli was off her rocker last night and all day yesterday. I have scratches on my hands and legs from her. Now she is sleeping. I'm still counting on this weekend. Just the way her body looks says so, her belly is low. Her side's have not fully gone away but they have almost completely disappeared. Keep your fingers crossed.

Just a quick update. Molli has not touched her food since about 12 am this morning. She is still drinking water but not near as much. All last night and yesterday she turned into the acrobat cat and today, what little she has been awake she has paced. Here is to getting the show on the road!

Finally......maybe
Hopefully, all she has done is sleep though. She did eat a little nibble about an hour ago. Not a lot at all though. I have looked for leaking fluidity have seen none. I have been thinking about the last time I saw fluid and wonder if she had just used the litter box. I am pretty sure it was before thanksgiving she got pregnant, so she should have them any time, even with the dropped belly she has me second guessing myself.
