+1!
My Sylvie cannot tolerate chicken, but she can eat other fowl. Her current rotation includes Rawz turkey as well as rabbit, and Tiny Tiger beef. She has also eaten lamb with no issues, but lamb cat foods are few and far between!
Agree on the Primal pork—I used to mash the nuggets with a mortar and pestle before adding the water. The Stella & Chewy pork is also quite hard, unlike the Duck Duck Goose.
It was more than five years ago, so I'm afraid I don't remember. But with most (all?) of the freeze-dried brands I've tried, I've had to let the nuggets or morsels sit and soak in warm water for several minutes to soften up. And the ease or difficulty of reconstituting and breaking them up can...
Oh, the comment from @lunch reminded me of another freeze-dried raw food that Sylvie has eaten—Feline Natural Lamb & King Salmon. I think it was the first one we tried! She liked it a lot, IIRC, but the price was prohibitive.
Gobbling it up at the speed of light and then aggressively begging for more, in a way she never did for any other food. The kind of reaction that makes you wonder "What the heck are they putting in this stuff?!"
She has enjoyed Primal (pork nuggets) and Stella & Chewy (Plate Lickin' Pork and...
As I mentioned on your other thread, I fed my cat Sylvie the Rawz rabbit pate as her main food for quite a while. From the email records of my orders, it looks like at least three years. She enjoyed it and there were no problems with it. I also ordered various other varieties of the Rawz pate...
Good to see I’m not the only one who has added Merrick LID to their cat’s rotation! Sylvie has had some digestive issues recently, on the heels of antibiotic treatment for first a UTI and then an eye infection, and I decided to resume my never-ending search for better foods for her. She can’t...
I’ve been giving 16-year-old Sylvie the Cosequin sprinkle caps for a few years now, and they do seem to improve her mobility. At one point the vet said Dasuquin might be better, but it didn’t agree with Sylvie’s digestive system, and she didn’t care for the Cosequin chews.
Thank you, daftcat! 😘 It just needs to see us through the rest of the antibiotic course (6 more days!). I've thought about applying it to the morning blood pressure and thyroid pills as well, with both of those stuffed into one little capsule. But we both enjoy the simplicity of sticking the...
This evening I put the antibiotic tablet into my pill crusher and ground it into smaller bits, so I needed only two size 3 capsules to hold them. The other elements of the routine (textured washcloth and generous amounts of Churu "icing" on the capsules) remained the same. Again, success! I am...
Happy to say Sylvie got all three of her meds today, helped by her returning sense of smell. In the morning she came to me for breakfast, and afterward sat looking at me expectantly for her customary dessert. I got out the whipped cream cheese, mixed the blood pressure and thyroid pills into it...
@BluOnyx, I feel your pain. I too have a smart and suspicious cat with a chicken intolerance and the need to take multiple pills! Mine now has the added twist of not being able to smell her food.
Until very recently, we were going along pretty well. Last year 16-year-old Sylvie was diagnosed...
No, I haven’t tried Mouser yet.
Rawz rabbit was a mainstay for a long time—maybe too long. Sylvie might have begun developing an intolerance to rabbit as well; I seem to recall some barfing episodes. She also lost enthusiasm for the Rawz, so I decided to just drop it from her diet at least...
She cares for so many cats that some are sure to be okay with it! I was disappointed because it’s an otherwise high-quality food and offers so many protein options for cats who can’t tolerate chicken.
I’m hoping that maybe I can interest Sylvie in Rawz duck again when the weather gets cooler.
I ordered the Variety Pack with high hopes of getting some more variety into Sylvie's diet, which currently consists solely of Tiny Tiger beef pate. I started with first the pork and then the beef. She ate both of them (though not with great zeal) but barfed them up shortly afterward. I'm...
I do not live in Florida or (knock wood) suffer from a roach problem on a regular basis, so feel free to disregard the following or say, "Yeah, tried it; didn't work" if appropriate.
For many years I have sworn by Combat roach baits. They have worked like a charm for me here in New York. As...
A tip not mentioned in this article is one that my vet gave me: Don't place your cat's water bowl right next to the food dish; move it at least a few feet away. My vet said that big cats in the wild avoid drinking water that is near their food source (a dead animal), and that our cats have that...
I feel your pain when it comes to finding chicken-free foods that your cat will eat!
If you and Evie are OK with beef, you might want to try Tiny Tiger Beef Pate. It's on Sylvie's current menu and she loves it. According to the Q&A on Chewy, it has some fish in it, but no chicken: "There is no...
I got one of those emails this week, too, about the case of Tiny Tiger turkey with giblets that's part of my Autoship. Meanwhile, today I received the case of Rawz turkey that I ordered from Hearty Pet. I'm glad I still have some of the Tiny Tiger to mix with the Rawz as I transition Sylvie to...
