Question of the Day - Monday, May 27, 2024

I get my hair cut short (very short---buzzed on sides and back, longer up top) but I never manage to go back more often than once every 3 or 4 months so it's just kinda regular pixie-cut short most of the time. My hair is very dark, almost black, but if the sun hits it right you can see reddish...

Question of the Day, Saturday, May 25

Sourdough. But I haven't eaten bread lately, I don't really like sandwich bread anyway.

Most people back then knew to heat the milk briefly (pasteurization). But of course if it was fresh and unfiltered it would still smell of cow, lol. I always say that goat milk tastes goaty, I've only noticed cow flavor with grass-fed milk though. I've been getting farm eggs from a local...

Question of the Day - Monday, May 20, 2024

I don't like meatloaf but my dad drowns it in ketchup. I don't have plain steak very often either (usually cut beef up for something like a stirfry), but a good steak only needs salt. For cheaper steak I like garlic powder too. Of course I wouldn't say no to butter and garlic with a good...

    Berries

I'll say blueberry, blackberry, mulberry. Strawberries are too sour most of the time (but a good one is SO good!) and raspberries have too many seeds. But there are several on there I haven't tried (cloudberry?) so maybe I'd like them too.

Question of the Day - Thursday May 9, 2024

A Hawaiian creation. Deconstructed sushi? Raw fish and various veggies in a bowl with rice (the place we go to also offers it over salad, which is what I get to limit carbs). Poke (dish) - Wikipedia

Question of the Day - Tuesday, May 7

I was never cool, very neurodivergent, tried a bit but didn't care enough to be bothered, ultimately. I tried jelly shoes but they gave me blisters, and I did wear very large-framed plastic glasses in the late '80s/early '90s but that's just because that was what the eyeglass store sold.

Question of the Day - Thursday May 9, 2024

It is really hard to maintain friendships as adults. Coordinating everybody's schedule is next to impossible. Had some friends visit on Saturday, we went to a poke bowl/boba tea place, which I guess is kind of sit-down, lol.

Question of the Day, Saturday, May 11

Oooh, a lot, I love binge-watching. I have DVD sets, so even before it was the usual way of consuming media. NCIS (just the OG. I do watch the others but not as faithfully) Northern Exposure Schitt's Creek Futurama Psych Monk Stargate (the OG) Star Trek (TOS, TNG, Voyager, Enterprise, DS9...

Question of the Day - Monday, May 6, 2024

As a younger teen I babysat and had a paper route. My first "real" job was at a call center (inbound calls only, I would die if I had to do outbound calls). I didn't mind it too much most of the time but call center work is frustrating and feels futile.

I think I've reached this point.

Anyone buy a new vehicle lately?

Cool! I bought my Forester in May 2022, so just about 2 years now. It's a 2020. Mine is red, what color is yours? The car prices now are insane. And the interest rates! I paid around $35,000 for mine (after all the addons and fees and stuff) and it was 2 years old at the time. Saved about $5k...

Odoban, usually. I like the new Clorox cleaning product scents, like the coconut one and the hibiscus one, but they are very strong and that can set off my asthma.

    Christmas cacti vs Thanksgiving cacti

My Easter Cactus is blooming but not much. Looks a little peaked, I'm going to have to research what to do about it. And I got a real Christmas cactus. I bought cuttings on eBay and they all took, plus then once it grew some more segments I planted a few of those so I think it's looking...

Question of the Day, Saturday, April 20

I pretty much only shop at Sam's Club and Costco, will stop at Walmart occasionally for some random stuff that warehouse stores don't have. Oh and the Asian grocery for a few things, might go there once every 3 months or so. I used to go to Aldi for chocolates but I had to cut out sugar so I...

    What do you call it?

Sub, but if it doesn't look sufficiently Subway-ish, I might call it a hoagie. I've heard hero and grinder, never heard it called a wedge though.

Question of the Day - Thursday April 11, 2024

I met one great-grandmother once when I was very young and she was very old, there's a picture but I don't remember. But nobody reproduced young in my family and my mom is the youngest so her parents were close to 40 when she was born, so all of my great-grandparents were gone before I could...

I think it's time to call a vet, if you can't afford that try a cat rescue.

Question of the Day - Monday, April 8th, 2024

When I was about 12 or 13 we had a homeschool group get-together to watch a lunar eclipse and then started look for other things. One dad had a decent telescope and found Saturn, so we all took turns looking. But at that distance things are moving pretty quickly so it kept moving out of view and...
