-The more water the better, add it to wet food add it to dry food. It will only help.
-Consider getting a pet fountain and placing it where your cat can get to and your dogs can't... High table, or shelf. Cats are much more likely to drink non-stagnant water.
-Concentrated urine will always...
Instinct LID Rabbit FTW?
As a side note
The food allergy (blood or skin) test aren't accurate. For a blood test, the higher IGE response to an ingredient, the higher the "likelihood" of an allergy to that ingredient and IGE result for any allergen a cat has eaten a lot of are usually going to...
I've used Merrick, Natural Balance, and Koha limited ingredient foods for Luke. (Lots of other brands make it). He especially loved Koha's Kangaroo Pate.
Venison, Rabbit, and Duck are common flavors (for limited ingredient foods).
Thier are also Hydrolized Protein cat foods... the proteins are...
FF was what I mixed into thier healthier foods to get them to eat it. Then it became just fancy feast when that trick didn't work. Eventually Fancy Feast has turned into a food they barely ate.
They eat FF gems but not every day. I still mix a FF "singles" salmon or white fish to get them to...
I like this idea, I'm stealing it. My oldest cat will only drink out of things she's not allowed to. A fishbowl with a filter is pretty good solution I just have to pretend not to catch her or pretend to scold her when I do catch her.
The store bought lid had 6" deep plastic flaps, the cats...
That's precious!
2 of my kitties figured out how my aquarium lid opens, had to build a 25lb wood lid. They're endlessly frustrated
(PS: Not an entry...just more cuteness)
I got blood a new blood tests done at my regular vet. Then went to the hospital for more tests and a 2nd opinion. Her Phosphates were on the high side of normal, now just normal. But she gone from early stage 2 to stage 3.
Both vets agree phosphate Blockers are at best pointless or dossibles...
Stella & Chewy has a lot of flavors, they're pretty hot or miss with my cats. BUT if OP wants to try freeze dried and doesn't like poultry.
Instinct's freeze dried 'Raw Meals' Pollock might be a good choice.
I haven't tried the Pollock personally Instinct's freeze dried Raw Meals and raw...
It's far from a quality food, but Crave is was the easiest dry food to get new cats to eat. It's a little under $3/lb. once they're eating "something". It's easy to slowly add a incrising ratios of decent quality food over the course of a a couple of months.
Our go-to dry food is Dr Elsy's...
I've been exploring and re-exploring safe ways to get my CKD cat to eat more.
I reached out to the various "lickable treats" mfrs to find actual, current, dry matter phosphate. Aside from Churu different flavors of each brands are within 0.1% of each other.
Dry Matter Phosphate contents...
So I did a little experiment, wanted to see if I could make Fancy Feast pate smooth enough for Luke to eat.
I measured everything precisely, so if it does work I can repeat it.
I used FF Classic Chicken Pate. (It's much smoother & finer than beef or turkey)
I know FF is grittier than other...
Downside to these at home services are, they need 3-5 days notices for an appointment. I think there's still a decent chance we gotta get it done at the vet anyway.
Sorry about Valentino.
I 'own' 5 of my own, fostered 6 others. took care of 2 others for over a year. Luke is unique/ extraordinary Everything about him is in the 1st or 99th percentile. We're braced for him to take a downturn at anytime but wouldn't have been surprised if he died within a...
