How high is safe for a cat tree for a litter of kittens?

We have a couple of tall (5 foot and 6 foot) cat trees in our house. They were for our adult cats who have all gone to the rainbow bridge. We are about to adopt 4 kittens. They will be 9-10 weeks old when we get them. They will initially be confined to a bedroom and bathroom. I just...

Masking Smell Of Prednisolone Pill Or Should I Try Liquid?

Sorry to hear about your cat having lymphoma. Our cat, Loki had lymphoma. Our vet prescribed Chlorambucil (chemo) and Prednisolone for him. Loki had other medical issues as well. He had to take 3 to 4 pills per day. We used a pill shooter to give him his meds. We had used a pill shooter...

Any experience with cats with cancer?

In our area there is a vet who exclusively travels to various veterinary practices and performs ultrasounds. The ultrasound confirmed that there was a mass. Our vet said he could do a biopsy, but didn't feel it was necessary given the expert opinion of the vet performing the ultrasound.

Any experience with cats with cancer?

Our cat Loki was diagnosed with lymphoma at 13 years old. His only real symptom was major weight loss. We treated him with chlorambucil (3 times per week) and prednisolone every day. I had read (and our vet and our daughter who is also a vet confirmed) that since lymphoma in cats is not very...

    When to euthanize?

I am so sorry for your loss. It is an agonizing decision to have to make. Over the past 30 years we have had 8 cats. The first was an indoor/outdoor cat that was hit by a car. We have had to euthanize the other 7 cats due to cancers, other medical issues and old age. Every time has been...

What are your cats names? Past and present

Update on our feline situation: We will be adopting 4 male kittens (currently about 5 weeks old) in 4-5 weeks. They are from 2 different litters and are already bonding. Today we decided on names: One pair will be Fred and Barney (Flintstones) The other pair will be Yoda and Chewy (may the...

    Traumatized by cat seizures

Our late cat Loki had a seizure disorder. He experienced a grand mal seizure about 10 years ago. We took him to the vet and he ran tests, but found no clear cause. He experienced another seizure a few weeks later. We took him to the vet again, and he prescribed Zonisamide. He was on that...

    Adopting 4 kittens

It has been quite a while since we had a very young kitten in our house. Loki was the only cat that we had as a young (about 12 weeks) kitten. The others were between 9 months and 14 months. I am looking forward to the chaos and mayhem.

    Adopting 4 kittens

After living in our house for a couple of months since the loss of our last cat, we are jumping back in. Our vet stumbled across a bunch of kittens who had been abandoned in a nearby cemetery. He got some of the staff to come over to the cemetery with cat carriers, and they rounded up 13...

Palliative care for cat with cancer

I am so sorry to hear about Kobi. We have been through the exact same situation. A little over 2 years ago our cat Loki was diagnosed with lymphoma. He had lost significant weight but was still eating. Our vet prescribed Chlorambucil and Prednisolone. Our daughter who is also a vet agreed...

    We are now catless

We are very open-minded about the cats that we will adopt. About 20 years ago we adopted 3 cats together whose owner surrendered them because she had cancer and could no longer care for them. Our vet estimated that they were about 7 years old. They were all wonderful cats. Since we would...

What are your cats names? Past and present

Our first cat (30 years ago) was Cocoa. He was a stray, but he had apparently been abandoned by his owner....he was neutered and declawed. After we lost him, we adopted 3 at the SPCA (Sadie, Sassy and PJ). A woman had developed cancer and could no longer care for the cats so she surrendered...

    We are now catless

We are fortunate that one of our daughters is a vet. She will take care of all of our cats in the event that we predecease them. We have a will set up with plenty of funding to cover the care of our cats.

    We are now catless

For the first time in over 25 years we have no cats to share our home with. We have had as many as 5. Over the past 3 years we have lost cats to old age/cancer/etc. Our last cat had to be put to sleep a couple of weeks ago. It has been very hard for me. I "see" him around the house every...

Returning to the forum after 2 years and losing 3 of our cats

Over the past 18 months we have lost 3 of our cats: Bonnie, Clyde and Lexi. Bonnie and Clyde lost their battles with cancer. Lexi had multiple medical issues and they finally caught up to her at the age of 15. Loki has lymphoma. He is receiving Chlorambucil and Prednisolone. He is doing...
