I love Harry Potter, and that's about the only books I read. I bought the first Twilight book, and have been trying to get myself to read it. Maybe I'll start this week when I have 5 days off in a row. I'm just not the reading type of person.

I am a big Stephen King fan but mostly his older novels. I also love the James Herriot Series. Other then those I have a tendency to read more non-fiction on a variety of subjects.

Let's see, anything written by Charles Dickens, Martha Grimes's Richard Jury series, THE CAT WHO series, the Rita Mae and Sneaky Pie Brown Mrs. Murphy series, the Joe Grey series, ALMOST everything written by Stephen King.

Remembrance - Danielle Steel
The Notebook - Nicholas Sparks (MUCH better than the movie!! although I cried in both movie and book

)
A Painted house - John Grisham
Harry Potter of course... I like them all, but 5, 6, and 7 are my faves with Deathly Hallows being my all time fave

I do like most books from the authors above though, and have a very large collection of Danielle Steel...

One of my favorite books that I think that an unfortunately small number of people have heard of is Parable of the Sower by Octavia Butler. (Religious types don't get too excited, non-religious types don't get too dismissive: religion is certainly one of its primary subjects, but in a very creative and interesting way.) The book is usually classified as Science Fiction, but it certainly has some fantastic elements and doesn't go to great lengths to describe science (it's about the result of science/fantasy near future).

one of my favorite books of all time is The Three Musketeers by Alexander Dumas, also liked The Count of Monte Cristo, same author

I've been really meaning to get into reading some of the classics, I was the weird one in school who loved the reading lists

as for current authors, I love anything by Nora Roberts, I am constantly amazed at how she can write about such a wide range of topics and do them so well! and of course the Harry Potter series!

Anything by Maya Angelou... she's so poetic in her fiction/autobiographical works... man... she's good.
If you haven't already, I highly recommend both The Martian Chronicles and Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury (451 is about a society where books are illegal, awesome read)

And my constant traveling companion: Sophie's World, but Jostein Gaardner. A mixture of fiction and the history of philosophy. That and my iPod are all I need on a plane...
