I have two cats already about 3 years old. I don’t think they have a strong bond. Just a mild bond. They don’t cuddle but they sleep in the same area. They rarely groom each other and if they do it’s very short lived and ends in a wrestling match. One cat refuses to join playtime when I’m playing with the other and sits in a corner and watches us. And other time she cries when nobody is playing with her. We give them both a ton of attention. Soooo.. I think my crybaby cat needs another cat. Someone tell me I’m wrong and it’s a bad idea. Financially I can do it but tell me it’s not a good idea.

I'd love to talk with you about building the confidence of your " wallflower" kitty and improving their dynamic BEFORE you entertain considering a third

There's much to talk about and imo rescuing another cat ,being Blessed to Bless another kitty is spectacular.... but let's create a better environment for a new addition- sound good?😻

Short lived and ending in a wrestling amatch sounds like 3 year old cats to me!

Rather than another cat, I think your timider cat needs some playtime behind a closed door from the other two to build her confidence.

Are you brushing them all with the same brush daily to make them smell like one another?

Cats may never be bonded or even overly friendly. A lot of cats who live together are roommates/companions but not much more. Sometimes they may wrestle or something but otherwise just tolerate each other. You will see from the behavior forum, that a lot of cats struggle to even get to that phase! So, I'd look at the cat you think is more the wallflower and see how you can satisfy her needs. There are many cats who live alone with their humans so the answer isn't always adding another cat. Adding another cat is a 50/50 that they get along or really hate each other. It's a risk.
